  • Lawmakers across multiple states continue to introduce legislation that could dramatically reshape the hemp industry. We have 6 states to report on this week:? - Georgia’s SB 254: This bill would impose extreme THC limits, ban hemp beverages, and severely restrict product availability. - Kentucky’s SB 202: While it the ban on hemp beverages has been removed,?it still weakens industry-backed quality regulations from the Department of Health and Family Services. - Missouri’s Legislative Activity: HB 696 & SB 518: Propose new age restrictions, testing requirements, and licensure rules—aiming for responsible regulation. HB 393: Establishes a 3-tier system for distribution of hemp beverages, while imposing arbitrary milligram limits of THC. - Montana’s HB 49: It sets strict THC caps and bans synthetic cannabinoids, threatening consumer access. - Ohio’s SB 86: It would force most hemp products into dispensaries, restricting access and significantly increasing costs. - Texas’ SB 3: This bill has advanced out of committee and would effectively eliminate most of the hemp market by banning all cannabinoids except CBD and CBG. With many of these bills advancing quickly, immediate action is needed to protect the industry from harmful restrictions while supporting just, science-based regulations. A newly-amended bill to be taken up by a Kentucky Senate committee Wednesday would ban the sale of any hemp-derived beverage in the state, putting the brakes on a growing market. ?? Urgent: Protect Hemp Beverages in Kentucky! ?? A new bill, SB 202, threatens Kentucky’s hemp industry by banning the retail sale of CBD and cannabinoid-infused beverages—effective immediately upon passage and lasting until July 1, 2026. While the bill calls for the University of Kentucky Cannabis Center to study these products, it unfairly halts an entire market before the research is even complete. With an emergency clause, SB 202 could become law with almost no time for debate—jeopardizing businesses, farmers, and consumer choice. ?? This rushed ban is not the answer. ? Instead, Kentucky should embrace responsible regulation that ensures safety without crippling an industry that supports local jobs and innovation. ?? Take Action NOW: Use our State Action Center to oppose SB 202 and tell Kentucky lawmakers to protect hemp beverages. ?? Share this post to spread awareness—time is running out! Let’s stand together for smart policy, not prohibition. #ProtectHemp #KentuckyHemp #NoOnSB202 https://lnkd.in/e6EhRzMf

  • URGENT: Texas Legislature Considers Sweeping Hemp Product Ban – TAKE ACTION NOW! Last night, the Texas Senate Committee on State Affairs held a marathon hearing on Senate Bill 3, lasting more than 10 hours, with over 8 hours of testimony from 170 people, and the overwhelming majority of whom opposed the bill. SB3 would ban 90-95% of hemp products, devastating jobs and pushing consumers toward unregulated markets. Notably, testimony from scientists and farmers highlighted that the THC limits proposed in SB 3 are impossible to meet, further proving that this bill is unworkable. Prohibition has never worked. Texas needs smart regulations, not an industry-wide ban. TAKE ACTION NOW: If you live in Texas, use the link below to contact your legislators in a matter of seconds!

  • We have 4 states to report on this week. We start in the Sunshine State, where SB 1030 would ban most hemp products, while HB 601 offers a more balanced regulatory approach. We’ve launched an email campaign in the state. In California, three hemp-related bills have been introduced, with varying impact on the industry. We’re a long ways away from any action in California, but we’re monitoring the situation closely. In Georgia, SB 229 would deny alcohol distributors the ability to distribute hemp THC beverages. Finally, in Utah, HB 52 has gone into effect. We’ve heard reports this law bans direct-to-consumer sales in the state. Learn more and participate in our Florida campaign below!

  • The hemp industry is under attack in multiple states, with new legislative proposals threatening the viability of direct-to-consumer (DTC) sales, overly restrictive milligram limits, and even the legal status of hemp products. We lead today with the Lonestar State. As we feared, a ban bill has been introduced in the Senate at the instigation of Texas LT. Governor Dan Patrick. Alabama is attempting to classify delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10 THC as controlled substances. Other states, such as Arizona, Mississippi, and New Mexico, are pushing restrictive regulations that would treat hemp beverages like alcohol, potentially eliminating e-commerce sales. There are also opportunities to push for positive change. We are throwing our support behind HD 3303 and SD 2494 in Massachusetts, which would bring back hemp beverages in this important market. And in Arizona, we stand behind SB 1702, a measure also backed by our friends at the Hemp Industry Association of Arizona (HITA). We are actively fighting ban attempts and pushing for sensible regulations with boots on the ground in these state capitals, but we need your help. If you live or have customers in any of these states below, please use the state campaigns linked in the comments!

Good afternoon. Sen. Ron Wyden is expected by hemp advocates to reintroduce the Cannabinoid Safety and Regulation Act, which would create a mechanism — and new center — for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to regulate cannabinoid products such as hemp-based CBD.
