Our CEO Michael A DeGiglio and Robert Head, Board Chair of Hemp for Victory, co-authored an op-ed in Marijuana Moment reiterating why our ongoing litigation against the DEA is imperative in the fight for rescheduling. ? ‘Leaving [DEA’s] appalling irregularities unaddressed—and failing to build a record of what has happened—would have meant squandering the best chance we have in our lifetimes to turn the tide on federal cannabis policy. We owe it to the tens of thousands of activists who have worked on this issue over the past 50 years, to the patients who rely on cannabis, and importantly to the veterans who have suffered or even lost their lives because all they had for treatment was Department of Veterans Affairs pharmacotherapy, to do everything in our power to defend this historic opportunity.’ ? ‘We have seen nearly all pro-reform stakeholders meet this historic moment with collaboration and respect for one another. We do not take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fight for the future of cannabis policy lightly, and we are also frustrated that the process had to be delayed. But we need to keep the focus on the task at hand and work together with professionalism, integrity, compassion and creativity to achieve our shared objective.’ ? The full op-ed is available to read?on our website:

?? Is 30% of Cannabis Users Really a Valid Stat for Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD)? A recent blog one of our SME, Ruth Fisher, PhD, dives deep into the widely cited claim that 30% of cannabis users develop Cannabis Use Disorder (CUD). This statistic has been used to shape public opinion and policies, but how accurate is it? Key points from Fisher’s analysis: ? Diagnostic Criteria Concerns: The criteria used to identify CUD may not accurately capture the wide spectrum of cannabis usage, leading to potential overdiagnoses. ? Bias in Data: The methodologies and populations studied to arrive at this statistic may not reflect the broader cannabis-using community. ? Nuanced Understanding Needed: Not all cannabis use results in dependency, and it’s essential to distinguish between use, dependence, and responsible consumption. This blog serves as a critical reminder of the importance of nuanced discussions in cannabis research and policy. Let’s approach the topic of Cannabis Use Disorder with a balance of data, science, and context. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g4u-u3zV

Hemp for Victory is the perfect group for this schedule 3 fight, and we are looking for sponsors. Our little 501C3 has been able to move the needle of legalization through high-level discussions, and we see the fruits of our labor. If your company is looking for a veteran non-profit that is actively changing a multi-billion dollar market to increase access for our veteran communities, please reach out. The US has 38 million veterans and we are big pharma's biggest customer. Let's change that.
Village Farms International Inc. and HempforVictory "have accused the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration of 'an unalterably closed mind' toward lowering marijuana to a less-dangerous category level and said the federal agency should be removed from the effort." Read more at MarketWatch.

This decision was tough but crucial. We firmly support Village Farms in this matter. Countless activists have dedicated themselves to advocating for this plant. We've lost millions to overdoses and suicides due to medications that could have been replaced by cannabis. It's imperative that we proceed correctly to prevent such tragedies in the future. The DEA's relentless efforts to keep marijuana illegal have distorted the principle of a government "For the people, by the people." For over three decades, they've twisted rules and manipulated governmental processes. While most states have legalized cannabis, the federal government continues to spend billions to maintain its illegal status. Consider the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program as an example. At the end of the day, this is the right step to take. https://lnkd.in/giHNBbYf

Today, Hemp for Victory will participate in the DEA hearing at 9:30 am in DC. Rescheduling marijuana from 1 to 3 is the right thing to do. This new administration needs to give this plant back to the people because it is also right. We want to reduce suicides and overdoses. See below. #followme

See you at MJBiz

I will be a Keynote Speaker at the MJBiz conference in Las Vegas on December 6th, discussing what it is like to be on the front lines of the rescheduling process with the DEA. This is the first time I have been to this conference, and I am really looking forward to seeing everyone. I heard Mike Tyson will be there. I hope to meet him.
