??? From January 30 to February 2, 2025, the incredible women of the Tennessee Hemophilia and Bleeders Disorders Foundation enjoyed a rejuvenating retreat at Santa Rosa Beach. ??? Two houses filled with caregivers and bleeders provided the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the tranquil beauty of the beach. Whether spending downtime with others or destressing solo, there was something for everyone. The weekend kicked off on Friday night with engaging and thoughtful sessions focused on self-care. We even had a delightful workshop on creating beautiful charcuterie boards! ???? ?? Saturday morning started with a refreshing wellness session on the beach, with pink towels provided by HPC. The stylish bags pictured were also gifts from HPC. Overall, it was a weekend of fun, relaxation, and connection. We are already excited about next year's retreat! #HPC #HealthcareHeroesTennessee #DedicatedNurses

There are two types of hemophilia - hemophilia A and hemophilia B. They are both caused by a lack of clotting factor but they are differentiated by which clotting factor is absent (factor eight or factor nine). However, the signs of both are the same: ? bruising easily ? bleeding into muscles and joints ? spontaneous bleeding ? excessive bleeding If you experience any of these symptoms, consult your doctor. ??Each March, Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month aims to increase awareness of inheritable blood and bleeding disorders. Part 1 of our four-part series this month focuses on hemophilia, since over 30,000 people in the US live with this disorder. The hemophilia gene is typically passed down from parent to child, although it can sometimes occur where there is no known family history, and in rare cases, a person can develop it later in life. It is not something that can be "caught" from someone, like a common cold. Hemophilia is a bleeding problem. People with hemophilia lack the protein in blood, called clotting factor, that controls bleeding. This means they can bleed for longer because their blood does not form clots to stop bleeding.
