Cancer diagnoses fell significantly below expectations in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic but recovered to projected levels the following year. Smoking cessation within 6 months of a cancer diagnosis can significantly improve survival. Individuals who quit smoking during that time survived nearly 2 years longer than those who did not, results of a prospective study showed.
