Are you living your life on purpose? I’ve been blessed to support several young people create businesses that address critical issues in our community. The formula I give them is: your passion + your skills + a problem you want to solve = purpose, which can lead to your own business. It’s simple, but the world complicates things and puts us on a wild goose hunt. I’m walking in my propose and I find joy in providing a platform that helps people find theirs! They say it takes a village to raise a child, but what if the village is siloed? What if the village is under-resourced? What if the village is fighting to make ends meet and burned out? Inspiring Minds was designed as a collective impact approach to build community through multiple stakeholders from the community providing culturally responsive programs and experiences for Black and Brown youth. Founded by Katrena Perou in 2019, she accomplished her goal by uniting multiple partners and stakeholders from the community to create the IM Leadership Institute, which provides the following services: * Sankofa Rites of Passage - Cultural Identity * Life Goal Labs - Health and Wellness *CIVICS - Art Integrated approach to civic engagement * Cryptowoke - Financial Literacy *Youth Conferences *Arts based after-school clubs *Paid Internships *Town Halls *College Tours *Sankofa Saturdays *IMCEO - Incubator space for student led programs/businesses We thank all of our community partners, especially our founding team: Breaking the Cycle, The Spirit Seed and Yeyex. One of our core values is “Exposure to New Opportunities” and we are proud to take our students to Kenya this Summer! We visited schools, learned about their customs and traditions, went on a safari and much more!
