Great to be in Chicago at Affordable Housing Live and presenting on some of our interesting projects. Always a great event and learning from folks from around the country and catching up with friends, and friendly competitors. Until next time Chicago…

HELP built its first affordable housing community in Philadelphia in 1997. Known as Genesis Square Apartments, the complex has 40 three-bedroom homes that have been operating since then. We are currently renovating the complex to make numerous upgrades to ensure long-term affordability. The first of those apartments came back online last week. Here are a couple of pictures.

Our VP of Development,?Dan Montanaro,?sent this picture today of the ongoing construction of HELP ONE Building C - 77 units for families and those with supportive housing needs. He was standing on Building B's roof. You can also see at the top of the picture Genesis Homes, 150 family units with a large courtyard, and at the top right Genesis Neighborhood Plaza I and II - together 150 units of family and supportive housing for homeless veterans. Once the 4 HELP ONE buildings are complete, we will have 872 affordable apartments in a three-block area in East New York.

We are looking to expand our small shop of affordable housers. We are currently seeking: - Senior Accountant to work with our development company and our third party property management company. - Director of Permanent Housing Facilities and Construction to work in Assett Management and Construction monitoring. - Affordable Housing Development Project Manager. This would be an entry into the wonderful world of financing and building affordable housing in several states and cities. Please feel free to reach out directly to me. We will post these soon in the usual spaces.

A few before/after pictures of HELP Bronx Renewal. Several years ago we partnered with HPD and CPC to participate in the first phase of the Clusters program where older buildings were rescued from a slum landlord and given to nonprofit developers to renovate for affordable and supportive housing. This is not an easy project but it is worthwhile to provide families with a respectable place to live. Whenever I look at the before photo's I cannot believe that people lived in these apartments. We are finishing up the 5th and final building now.

One of our favorite sights here at HELPDevCo is a tidy hole in the ground. This is a progress picture of HELP ONE Building C currently in construction in East New York, Brooklyn. Will be home to 77 new families and folks with supportive needs. Across the way will eventually be, wait for it, Building D. When all said and done, buildings A, B, C and D will be 515 low, moderate and supportive housing homes.
