Anosognosia is a neurological condition that impacts a person’s ability to have awareness of their illness and is experienced by a significant percentage of people with serious mental illness (SMI). It’s not about not wanting help or not having the “will power” to change. It’s not a choice. #anosognosiaawareness #anosognosiaeducation
Anosognosia is not a choice. Learn more about what TV gets wrong about SMI on the latest episode of our podcast, SMI Spotlight, with Dr. Xavier Amador and Lindsay Rauch, whose family was featured in the docuseries, "Six Schizophrenic Brothers." https://lnkd.in/g2GiaTkT Galvin Family Trust: https://lnkd.in/g5fngPKj

Thank you to Todd Weatherly, M.Ed., QMHP, QSAPP for having David Pickar, MD and Help in the Home on his podcast to discuss the new antipsychotic medication Cobenfy. Among his many accolades, Dr. Pickar served in the Intramural Research Program of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) for over 20 years where he was the Chief of the Experimental Therapeutics Branch dedicated to studying schizophrenia and psychosis. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Pickar as one of Advisory Council members. We hope you find his expertise and message of hope as informative and inspiring as we do.

This is amazing news! Thank you to all of the advocates who came together to help remove this unnecessary barrier to accessing life-saving medication for people with psychosis.
BREAKING: The FDA will eliminate the REMS program for clozapine. This is a momentous, life-saving development for individuals with treatment-resistant schizophrenia. https://lnkd.in/ehv6BiDs

Check out this recent study which found that Clozapine reduced the risk of second psychosis relapse by 34% in first episode schizophrenia patients.
After a first #psychosis relapse, first-episode #schizophrenia patients had a 34% lower risk of 2nd relapse by switching from a non-clozapine antipsychotic to clozapine within 30 days of discharge. . From the moment I arrived, I felt it. ?Grateful. ?Grateful for the warm smiles. ?Grateful for the heartfelt conversations. ?Grateful for the shared energy of a community brought together by purpose. ?Grateful for the opportunity to facilitate a workshop during the event where I learned so much from each and every attendee. This was my personal experience at the recent Gratitude Event co-sponsored by: CLE | College Living Experience HELP IN THE HOME, LLC Relational Mastery Institute Fusion Academy ClearView Communities LLC WILLIAM R. STIXRUD, PH.D. AND ASSOCIATES LLC PrepMatters some of the incredible people that make up those organizations- Olga Marable Shannon Harris, LMSW, MBA Julia Pregot Carmen Z. Stacy Derrick, EMBA Rayetta Michael Ned Johnson The Stixrud Group As I led my session, I witnessed firsthand what much of the research tells us: ?? Gratitude strengthens our well-being. ? Gratitude lowers stress. ?? Gratitude deepens our sense of belonging. I still get chills when I think about how amazing gratitude is and my own deep experience in it. Studies show that when we cultivate gratitude, our brains engage pathways that reinforce resilience and positive emotions (Fox et al., 2015). But beyond the science, I saw its real-time impact in the way people leaned into one another, and found belonging in shared experience. I listened as participants shared their own moments of gratitude—a parent watching their children play, a caregiver finding meaning in tending to an aging loved one, a yoga practitioner embracing the stillness of their practice. We shared laughs. Lots of hugs. And even shed a few tears. By the end of the event, I was different than when I arrived. Gratitude, practiced in community, is transformative. ??In giving, we receive. ?In connection, we belong. ??And in gratitude, we love. #gratitude #connection #mentalhealth #wellbeing #wellness #leadership #presence #belonging #community

We understand the significance of amplifying Black voices in the mental health field, which is why we are handing over the microphone to a remarkable member of our Help in the Home team. This team member will shed light on the lack of Black male representation in the mental health field, including the lack of Black males in leadership roles. Check out our latest blog to read our interview with Shawn Campbell, MSW, Supported Living Community Program Manager, to better understand his experiences, motivations, and the impact he aspires to create for his clients and community through his career.
