Broad Street Love, formerly Broad Street Ministry, provides stabilizing services to those experiencing deep poverty. Rooted in dignity and care, they offer an open, safe space for hundreds of guests every weekday. Unless you’re already familiar with Broad Street Love or the concept of Radical Hospitality, you might not immediately understand who they are and what they do. So in addition to a brand refresh, we redesigned their website from the ground up. This was a collaborative effort that included a full UX/UI audit, a restructure of the site’s architecture, and a redesigned back end that is simple to manage and update when needed. The new site outlines their wide array of services, making it easy to find what’s available and when, and navigation is intuitive for everyone: potential donors, volunteers, and guests. The result is a web experience that reflects the warm, welcoming, and helpful community at Broad Street Love.

For almost 20 years, Broad Street Love (formerly Broad Street Ministry) has been a beacon of hope in Philadelphia, offering services tailored to the needs of their community: from delectable chef-prepared meals to legal consultation. We designed a brand identity that reflected their warm, welcoming atmosphere and passionate community. The logo mark’s diamond shape serves as the main graphic element, carrying bold, empowering color or serving as a container for photography — becoming windows into the everyday efforts and impact of their community. Their vibrant color palette and bold typography draw from the visual language of advocacy and protest, and the icon set helps to delineate and expand on the many services offered. Together, these distinctive brand elements form a recognizable identity that reflects the values of the organization, and ushers in an exciting new era on Broad Street.

Broad Street Love (formerly Broad Street Ministry) is a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that provides life-stabilizing services for those experiencing deep poverty and homelessness. They came to us for a rebrand to match their recent name change, emphasizing their practice of radical hospitality: going beyond the norm of typical social services providers, and embracing guests from all backgrounds with dignity and care. The new logo was inspired by their iconic building — the historic stained glass windows are reflected in the logo mark, and the warm, welcoming tone of the red doors is one of the brand’s primary colors.

This was the greatest baby race of all time and possibly the greatest comeback of all time. Hudson showed great sportsmanship in looking out for his competitor before racing to a huge come from behind victory. This was so much fun to host and you could hear the sold out crowd going crazy throughout the race. I'd like to say we wrote it up this way but we could never do that. We came up with this idea years ago, and visualized a race like this but have never seen it all come together with a miraculous finish like this until this weekend. The mindset that brought us this idea and often brings us most ideas is, "Whatever's normal do do the exact opposite." Instead of a fast race with adults that most teams have, could we have the world's slowest race with crawling babies. And that's how this was born as we play "Chariots of Fire" theme song as they attempt to crawl. Often many of the babies just sit there with some crying, but once in awhile you get the magic. Last year, a baby stood for the first time. Another time, a baby stood and took their first step before falling down. You truly never know what's going to happen. It's just a joy to watch and see their parents encourage them....but this one will go down in history!
