Some of the Helix Aviation Leaders had the incredible opportunity to volunteer at the Louisiana Marathon, partnering with the LSU Men’s Club Volleyball team to pass out water and Powerade to the dedicated runners and participants. It was a rewarding experience to support these trained athletes and be part of such a positive community event. At Helix Aviation, we pride ourselves on embracing servant leadership and are always eager to serve in meaningful ways. We look forward to continuing to connect with and support our community in the future!

HAA Spotlight on Marvin Mercer Marvin Mercer is an accomplished educator with over 12 years of teaching experience. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Grambling State University and a Master's Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University. Marvin demonstrates exceptional leadership, guiding students of all levels toward mastery of essential skills and concepts. His commitment to ongoing professional development has driven numerous initiatives enhancing instructional practices and student engagement. During his tenure at Madison Preparatory Academy (2013-2017), the school achieved remarkable progress, improving from an F to a D in 2013 and a D to a C in 2014. In 2016, the school received National Blue Ribbon recognition for outstanding growth. Marvin values collaborative decision-making, engaging parents, teachers, and the community. As Director of Harmony and Justice at Helix Aviation Academy, Marvin oversees the 'turnaround initiative,' empowering students with a second chance. Marvin also coaches and umpires baseball, fostering students' exploration of interests outside academics.

Staff Spotlight We are pleased to introduce you to Lamarcus Lee, our Director of Enrichment, who founded and successfully launched our comprehensive enrichment program within the past year. Under his leadership, the program has expanded to include 11 diverse enrichments encompassing culinary arts, cosmetology, graphic design, and various career-oriented disciplines.

Verizon Innovative Learning Schools

We are proud to announce our designation as a Verizon Innovative Learning School, joining cohort 11 alongside 34 other schools nationwide. Helix Aviation Academy recently hosted a parent-student roll-out event, introducing digital equity and garnering investment. Parents learned about digital literacy, signed technology usage agreeement, and and visited with the VILS Coach. Our VILS program is led by Dorian Nash, HAA VILS Technology Coach. This initiative, Verizon Innovative Learning, tackles digital inclusion barriers, promoting equity in education. Our students receive iPads with 4-year connectivity, supported by a dedicated VILS technology coach at each Helix School. #DigitalEquity #VerizonInnovativeLearning #digitalpromiser
