Last week, Gwakisa Stadi, our Regional CEO, East Africa, was on the ground in Madagascar, working with the team on some of their ongoing strategic sustainable projects. The team in Madagascar have just received their first set of smart helmets - an exciting step in our safety digitalisation journey! This technology will soon be put to use across our operations and projects, helping enhance real-time monitoring and reinforce Helios Towers’ commitment to SHEQ excellence. Well done to Will Richardson-White, Ahmat M.Ousmane, Louis Patrick Rakotomalala and the rest of the SHEQ team for driving this initiative. Looking back on a solar workshop we held in Senegal last week, bringing together colleagues from across our markets to discuss how we can maximise the value of renewable energy across the Group. ? Colleagues visited different solar-powered sites, hosted insightful training sessions, and had valuable discussions with our partners from multiple markets about their experiences with installing, commissioning, and operating solar power systems. It was a great opportunity to share best practices, discuss key learnings, and explore ways to increase the impact of solar technology within our operations. ? Last week marked the completion of a recent project supporting education and community growth in Dhofar, Oman. ? Focused on enhancing digital learning, this initiative has already made a significant impact on the 2,500+ pupils and 150 teachers who use these classrooms every day. ? We equipped 40 classrooms with projectors, benefiting two schools running morning and afternoon sessions. The Ministry of Education also uses these resources for meetings, and the classrooms have become a hub for local events. ? We were proud to celebrate this achievement alongside the Ministry of Education's Director General in the Southern Region of Dhofar, Dr. Mazyoona Khateeb Al Shahri. The Ministry has now officially recognised Helios Towers as a partner in the Southern Region of Oman - a testament to the meaningful collaboration and shared vision for a brighter educational future. ? Our collaboration with Airtel DRC began in 2011, and over the years, our partnership has continued to grow. In December 2024, our local team celebrated a key milestone - surpassing 2,000 tenancies - a testament to our shared commitment to expanding connectivity and driving digital inclusion. But our journey doesn’t stop there. We continue working together to enhance network efficiency, scale infrastructure, and meet the increasing demand for reliable mobile services across the country. With over $730 million invested in the DRC since the start of our operations, we remain committed to delivering sustainable, high-quality telecom solutions that empower communities and support economic growth. We were honoured to welcome the Minister of posts, telecommunications, new information and communication technologies (PT-NTIC), Mr Augustin Kibassa Maliba, and the President of ARPTC (Autorité de Régulation de la Poste et des Télécommunications au Congo), Mr Christian Katende at our celebration. Their support and dedication to the advancement of the telecom sector in the DRC are instrumental in driving the country’s digital transformation.
