Val’s technical journey spans over a decade, during which he has shipped products on time without sacrificing quality or maintainability. He brings a unique blend of software engineering and DevOps expertise from his previous roles at Rapid7, Capital One, and DivvyCloud. Val holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Math from Virginia Tech. In his past roles, Val has led DevOps teams, built backend systems for big data management, and developed automation tools for seamless deployments. His experience includes designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, as well as architecting backend code for data retrieval and integration projects. ?? We are excited to share that Heeler’s initial OWASP? Foundation Global AppSec in San Francisco was nothing short of incredible! The energy and expertise of the application security community were truly inspiring. From thought leaders to fellow startups, it was a fantastic opportunity to engage with others who share a common goal: solving today’s most pressing AppSec challenges. What stood out during our conversations was the strong resonance around Heeler’s unique approach to closing the context gap in AppSec. Organizations are overwhelmed with security findings and alerts, needing context more than ever as this gap makes current security efforts labor-intensive and difficult to scale. We founded heeler to close this context gap created by the lack of a unified data layer that integrates application, runtime, and business context. Many who came by our booth were excited to see how Heeler empowers AppSec and Development teams to catch risks earlier in the development process and streamline response orchestration. Heeler automates many of the costly steps that have made threat modeling difficult to scale, allowing teams to adopt a more strategic shift-left approach. This means risks are identified and addressed earlier in the development process, reducing security debt. Through lifecycle management, Heeler ensures that identified risks are continuously tracked, prioritized, and resolved across the entire software development lifecycle. From discovery to remediation, teams maintain full visibility, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.
