#EveryDayAtHeartlandAEA Did you know we offer CPI professional learning? Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention Program (CPI) training provides participants with a framework for preventing, de-escalating and safely responding to crisis behavior. The program focuses on what’s happening from two perspectives: the person in distress and the staff person. Participants gain a broad range of tools to help them manage their emotional responses and identify escalating behaviors in others. Teachers and paraeducators participate in CPI professional learning facilitated by CPI trainers Jenny Henscheid (school social worker), Becky Tigges (challenging behavior & autism team) and Chelsey Jensen (special education consultant). #EveryDayAtAEA #HeartlandAEA #CPI #Deescalation

#EveryDayAtHeartlandAEA AEA collaboration at its best! Heartland AEA and Prairie Lakes Area Education Agency recently teamed up to support the Spencer Community Schools in a review of the district's gifted and talented program. Kyra Wilcox-Conley and Kate Boonstra, Heartland AEA gifted and talented consultants, and Amanda Woodall, Prairie Lakes AEA school improvement consultant, planned and facilitated the session. Coordination between the two AEAs gave the Spencer district access to specialized AEA consultants, helping the district evaluate the current state of its G/T program and come to a consensus on areas for improvement. #EveryDayAtAEA #HeartlandAEA #CollaborationIsKey
