Success is often seen as the ultimate validation. People push themselves to accomplish more and more, hoping that their next milestone will finally bring them contentment, confidence, or security. But here’s the secret that hustle culture doesn’t often highlight: Success alone won’t make you secure. It can actually do the opposite—fueling imposter syndrome and making every accomplishment feel like a fluke, or a stroke of luck. So no matter how much you achieve, you’ll always wonder: What if I don’t deserve this? What if I can’t keep this up? What if everyone around me finds out that I’m a fraud? ???? These doubts don’t come from a lack of success—they come from a lack of self-belief. The truth is, confidence isn’t built by avoiding failure; it’s built by surviving it. Each time you face a setback and keep going, you prove to yourself that you’re capable. This gives you the confidence to shut down the doubts when they inevitably creep up on you. How has failure shaped your confidence? Let us know ?? #DiaryofaCEO #MentalHealth #ImposterSyndrome

??Idle time is key for allowing our brains to process all those thoughts and emotions that pile up throughout the day. Where humans once had plenty of idle time doing simple tasks, we’re now finding ways to be 'productive' even in our moments of rest—like scrolling social media for productivity tips on a Saturday. This week, carve out some time to do nothing. Your brain will thank you. ?? Watch the full video here: https://bit.ly/3CcbBYt Thanks again to Mel Robbins, Emily Fuller, & Camryn Cicarelli for having us on, and the amazing team at Penguin Random House that made this happen! ??

We’re all seeing the shift in the workforce. As trust in institutions wanes, many people are questioning if “traditional” jobs, and the outdated practices they often come with, are even worth it. Burnout is rising, top companies continue to scale back WFH opportunities, and wages are failing to keep up with inflation. What does all this mean for the future of work? For one, employers must rethink what their employees need to thrive in the workplace, and explore ways to make them feel truly valued for the work they do. Taking meaningful steps to support mental health and compensate employees fairly are critical parts of this, as is creating an environment that allows for (guilt-free) work-life balance. Because work CAN be fulfilling and rewarding in a place that makes the experience worthwhile. What changes do you think organizations should make to meet today’s needs? Let us know ?? #Careers #MentalHealth #WFH #EmployeeBenefits

What’s the most transformative thing you can do, right now, to shape your future? ? Believe in the future version of yourself. ? And, this isn’t just a catchy self-help mantra—it’s actually grounded in psychology. People can pick up on your self-perception through their empathic circuits. ?? So, when you carry a belief that you’re unworthy or incapable, other people may start to believe this about you too. People often chase productivity tips or quick wins to get ahead. But what if your next big breakthrough is simply rewriting how you see yourself? #MidweekMotivation ?? #DiaryofACEO

Join HG’s very own Mike McKim & Syaidah Awls on October 29th for their next workshop: https://bit.ly/3UiJYmX ? They’ll be discussing job security, imposter syndrome, and more! Hope to see you there ??
Healthy Gamer has been hosting workshops with our Career Community on Discord. As a hiring manager, I’ve had the pleasure of co-hosting two sessions with Syaidah Awls, our HR Administrator. We had a great intro on how to get your first professional job in August, and a follow-up in October where we answered questions directly from the community. On October 29th, we’ll be hosting another workshop on job security, burnout, imposter syndrome, and other anxieties young people face in today’s job market. The best part is that these advice sessions we lead are based on our lived, real-world experiences. We both have adult children that we give advice, too. In our first workshop, we brought up the benefits of using your schools job fairs to connect with hiring managers. As it happens, my son, James McKim, attended his first job fair at the University of Louisville shortly after. He met with multiple businesses, and landed his first interview! Even if he doesn’t get the first job he interviews for, it gave him a chance to create and practice his “elevator pitch”. We try to provide real advice to help this digital generation: Put yourself out there! It gives you the opportunity to get better, and build confidence. And, it only gets easier every time you do it. I wanted to share that advice can help, and that I try to give advice as if I were talking to my own friends and family. It’s been truly rewarding to be able to use my experience to help provide perspective to our younger generations. If you’re interested in attending our next workshop, join us here on Oct 29th:
