In times of uncertainty, the values we choose to stand for today?will?shape the world we live in tomorrow. It is a challenging time for our community and partners. The?unprecedented actions against immigrants,?the federal rollback of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, and the targeting of nonprofit organizations through funding pauses is creating harmful environments for community members that are part of the fabric that weaves our Montgomery County community together. In the fall, our approved strategic plan included committing fast, flexible financial resources to our nonprofit community partners when opportunities for advocacy or threats to health and wellbeing arose. Our commitment resulted in the formation of our?Rapid Response Fund for Community Power. This fund provides one-time, fast, flexible funding support to Montgomery County organizations responding to critical and unexpected, urgent events or external challenges, while strengthening the voice and power of community members. ?? Thank you to the Montgomery County, PA Commissioners for joining the Bucks-Mont Collaborative's Collaborative Advocacy Network for a discussion on how nonprofits and County government can enhance our partnership to better address the homelessness crisis in our communities. HealthSpark Foundation was proud to share a number of action items that our nonprofit partners believe will help: re-establishing a countywide advisory council on homelessness, increasing communication pathways between the Commissioner's office and our nonprofit partners regarding new projects and trends, and helping to advocate for projects that will provide much needed housing and supportive services across our communities. We were grateful to hear updates on projects across the County that Commissioner Neil Makhija, Jamila Winder, and Thomas DiBello have spearheaded. And, we're excited to see some new projects come to fruition in the coming year. Nonprofits + Government are a powerhouse duo when it comes to providing support for our communities. We look forward to growing our partnership! Guided by our strategic plan, these grant programs will support our efforts to advance positive social change in Montgomery County and to build community power – our belief that people should have influence and control over the policies, programs, and practices that affect their lives. ??? ??? ? ??? The Building Community Power Fund: Based on the belief that advocacy is a critical lever for achieving health equity, the Building Community Power Fund is dedicated to?supporting and growing nonprofit organizations’ ability to advocate for more just and equitable policies, practices, and programs that impact the health and wellbeing of Montgomery County residents. The Fund provides grant support to build capacity within nonprofit organizations for advocacy and to enhance existing advocacy efforts centered in Montgomery County that are aligned with HealthSpark’s mission, guiding principles, and goals. - We are accepting Letters of Interest for this fund by January 17, 2025. Up to $20,000 per grant. ? The Rapid Response Fund for Community Power: This fund will give one-time, fast, flexible funding support to Montgomery County organizations responding to critical and unexpected, urgent events or external challenges, while strengthening the voice and power of community members. The Rapid Response Fund is intended to help nonprofits and community-based organizations respond in a nonpartisan manner to critical threats, or opportunities to advance support for racial and social justice goals. - Applications accepted on a rolling basis.
