This year’s Small Business Summit hosted by Greater Des Moines Partnership was truly terrific!?It covered a lot of ground – from growth strategies and scaling up small businesses, to leadership and emerging technology like AI. We enjoyed meeting new folks, and connecting with our partners like Joel D. and Cynde Cronin of Connectify HR, which offers small businesses access to all sorts of comprehensive HR solutions, including our health plans!

It’s great to see all the organizations across Iowa champion Make It OK to reduce the stigma around mental health. For Mental Health Awareness Month, check out this important resource if you haven’t already.
It’s Mental Health Awareness Month and we’re reinforcing our commitment to ending the stigma surrounding mental health. That stigma can keep people from seeking support or receiving the care they need and deserve. Through the Make It OK campaign, thousands of ambassadors and community partners have promoted increased understanding and caring conversations around mental health. We recently updated our Make It OK website to better facilitate those conversations. The enhanced website includes in-depth content on both mental illnesses and mental health and well-being, including resources specifically developed for groups such as veterans, teens, seniors and people of color. These comprehensive resources offer equitable access to information, which represents a commitment to supporting all individuals on their mental health journeys. “We believe supporting the diverse perspective of communities with relevant resources will build partnership momentum as we work together to end the stigma of mental health and illnesses,” said Marna Canterbury, our vice president of community health and partnerships. Our teams attended the Iowa Healthiest State Initiative Workplace Well-being Conference. It was a great event that covered a lot of ground. One takeaway that stuck with us was how important leadership support and resource groups are to ensuring workplace well-being programs succeed. It’s something we see when working with our employer group partners, too, and try to help cultivate when working together. Already looking forward to next year’s event!
