Family Connects of Frederick County has exciting news to share! Family Connects of Frederick County provides no-cost home nursing visits to families with newborns to provide wellness visits and personalized resources for the birthing parent and baby. They are working alongside other Family Connects programs in Maryland on a bill that will implement the voluntary program statewide to provide universal newborn nurse home visiting services to all families with newborns residing in Maryland. A Maryland state bill is being planned by lawmakers that would mandate insurance providers to cover services under Family Connects, which would create the statewide program. Yesterday, Summer had quite the full circle moment! She was invited by UNESCO BMW Admin to present to two of Mrs. Ivey’s wonderful classes at Thomas Johnson High School. Mrs. Ivey was Summer’s first grade teacher at Liberty Elementary School, and she is still the same compassionate, skilled, and caring teacher. It was a heart warming experience to witness the love that Mrs. Ivey’s students have for her, and vice versa. Summer presented about mental health, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and positive and compensatory experiences (PACEs), emphasizing that mental health is something we all have, and we must look out for one another. Summer’s goal was to have the students take away the key idea that just because someone has faced challenges doesn’t mean they can’t find strength and resilience through positive experiences. #HealthierFrederick #MentalHealth #ACEs #PACEs
