For those in the DC and Maryland area, I'm thrilled to share an upcoming event that focuses on empowering Black preteen and teen girls through open conversations about puberty, reproductive health, and wellness. Family Connects of Frederick County has exciting news to share! Family Connects of Frederick County provides no-cost home nursing visits to families with newborns to provide wellness visits and personalized resources for the birthing parent and baby. They are working alongside other Family Connects programs in Maryland on a bill that will implement the voluntary program statewide to provide universal newborn nurse home visiting services to all families with newborns residing in Maryland. A Maryland state bill is being planned by lawmakers that would mandate insurance providers to cover services under Family Connects, which would create the statewide program.
