We’re thrilled to announce that MEDITECH has joined our Qualified Health Information Network (#QHIN) to support its recently announced US-based Traverse Exchange #interoperability network with real-time access to comprehensive patient data. Built on the same foundation as MEDITECH’s successful Traverse Exchange Canada solution, this new private network will enable participating MEDITECH customers to share health data seamlessly and securely with one another as well as with organizations using other vendor EHRs and exchange networks that comply with interoperability standards. “Our team at Health Gorilla has been looking forward to the opportunity to build on the work we’ve already accomplished with MEDITECH in Canada and support their new US network,” said Steve Yaskin, CEO and Co-founder of Health Gorilla. “MEDITECH has shown an unparalleled commitment to improving interoperability, and we’re proud to support them as they begin to participate in TEFCA through our QHIN and scale their Traverse Exchange network.”?

关于我们
Health Gorilla provides secure interoperability solutions that enable healthcare organizations to seamlessly access the data they need to deliver high quality care. Leveraging our suite of FHIR-based APIs, master patient index, and data platform, our customers get instant connectivity to a broad clinical network to retrieve data for their products, extract insights that inform care delivery, and succeed in risk-based models. Our vision is to build a single national network that can retrieve and house all health data on any patient, ranging from medical records and labs to social determinants of health. By working with ONC to achieve TEFCA compliance and pursue status as a Qualified Health Information Network, we can scale the breadth of our data network nationally and deliver value across the healthcare ecosystem.

At #MEDITECHLive, MEDITECH Senior Director Mike Cordeiro outlined the goal to connect all MEDITECH #Expanse customers to Traverse Exchange, including the #QHIN connection via Health Gorilla, by the end of 2025. Sites on legacy versions of MEDITECH will have the opportunity to onboard by the end of 2026. This initiative ensures that MEDITECH and its customers are fully supportive and aligned with #TEFCA. In addition, MEDITECH has always connected our customers to national networks with Individual Access Services (IAS) turned ON, unless otherwise desired by the customer (this happens very rarely if ever), and our policy has not changed with Traverse Exchange. This, combined with the goal of getting all sites connected to QHINs, ensures that we are fully supportive of the goal of ensuring that all patients have access to their records using the app of their choice via TEFCA. Partnering with a designated Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) like Health Gorilla for healthcare organizations transitioning to value-based care can significantly enhance their ability to access comprehensive clinical data. QHINs serve as the national nodes for secure, nationwide health data exchange under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), a framework developed to establish a floor for interoperability across the US.? Read more about how #TEFCA’s new exchange purposes or "paved paths" enable VBC.

Once fully implemented, this step by Epic, a key player in the healthcare industry and one of the initial #QHINs alongside Health Gorilla, to name a few, will be vital in the efforts established by the #ONC with #TEFCA to improve #interoperability and efficient data exchange between systems. This step will lay the ground for a faster transformation towards value-based care, where data is the bedrock of comprehensive population healthcare. Historically, before the TEFCA initiative, EPIC established the famous #MyChart for patients to receive and review their health data, and Care Everywhere integrates data from other EPIC systems. The new individual access services (IAS) capability gives patients more direct control over their health data and the opportunity for other startups and initiatives to retrieve those data efficiently. #ClinicalInformatics #Healthcare #HealthcareonLinkedin #HealthIT #HealthInnovatin #Healthinformatics #AI #ValuebasedCare Link:

We are excited to announce this next step in healthcare interoperability. This choice in contrast, is not an opportunity to sell more EHR software as a commercialization play. This is a commitment to ensuring that all physicians, have all of the information that they need, which will be easily accessed and absorbed, regardless of the EHR vendor of origin. People should receive care everywhere, when they need it and with confidence, that their doctors are fully informed vs. barraged with 50-60 pages of scanned CCD documents or minimally (sparingly) shared data from another vendor EHR. The goal is simple, we got into healthcare to make it accessible for all, to ensure we enable via technology, the best possible quality of care for all patients. Let’s push on the broader community and the echo system of healthcare to deliver on that promise. We are all consumers of healthcare and deserve access to truly open and interoperable records, not just the inter-operable version via a commercial EHR mindset, which dictates that you can get there, but only via one single standard EHR offering in every healthcare organization. We are capable of more.

As the adoption of TEFCA grows, the ability to more easily exchange patient data across hospitals, clinics, payers, and patients will become "real," Brendan Keeler noted. The health information networks will broaden beyond provider-to-provider exchange to include provider-to-patient and provider-to-payer. Dave Cassel, now chief customer officer at Health Gorilla, noted in a?blog post?that both announcements signal that Carequality, founded more than ten years ago, will eventually be "ceding the stage to #TEFCA" in the larger industry-wide movement toward universal connectivity. “My reading is that Epic’s customers will be transitioning to TEFCA between now and the end of 2025 and that Epic’s support for #Carequality will not continue into 2026," Dave Cassel wrote. https://lnkd.in/eAAVqkg7
