I was quoted in the NYT today about the Baxter plant and exacerbation of the IV fluid shortage: “Storms are reaching areas where they’ve never been before with greater severity. There is an increased need to widen the scope of what we think is vulnerable in our medical supply chain.”

Baxter Update: While the Baxter plant remains offline, they are actively distributing products that were already produced prior to the storm. ?? B. Braun Update: B. Braun has announced that their Daytona Beach IV solutions manufacturing plant will temporarily close on Wednesday. The Daytona Beach distribution center will also close on the same day, with plans to resume operations by Friday. B. Braun is working diligently to protect their team and maintain the availability of IV solutions during this critical time. They are partnering with the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) to relocate inventory to a secure, temperature-controlled facility outside of Florida, ensuring a seamless transition once the storm passes.
