??Advocacy Win for Fitness in Louisiana! ?? The Health & Fitness Association (formerly IHRSA) scored a victory for fitness facilities and members by successfully blocking a proposed 5% sales tax on studios, group fitness classes, personal training, spa services, and more! This harmful tax would have increased costs for facilities and members alike. Thanks to HFA’s strong advocacy efforts, the bill failed to advance during Louisiana’s special legislative session. ?? How can we ensure physical activity is recognized as a vital component of preventive care? ?? HFA's VP of Government Affairs, Mike Goscinski spoke on this at last week's Medical Fitness Conference with Amy Bantham, DrPH, CEO/Founder at Move to Live?More and Immediate Past President at Physical Activity Alliance. ?? They discussed the critical steps needed to integrate the fitness industry into the healthcare continuum, including advancing assessment, referral, and reimbursement models. ?? They also highlighted the work of the Physical Activity Alliance, a coalition based in Washington, D.C. This alliance collaborates with policymakers to elevate the role of physical activity in improving mental and physical health nationwide. Goscinski will soon join the Physical Activity Alliance as the Chair of the Policy Committee.
