10 stories we are following at Becker Private Equity and Business Podcast 1. The markets tanked yesterday on multiple concerns. Government shutdown, tariffs, reduced government spending, recession fears and more. We did record a podcast on "The markets crashed - are we tired of winning yet". 2. The S&P 500 fell 2.7%. The Nasdaq dropped 4%. 3. Tesla dropped nearly 15.5%. 4. The major airline stocks all dropped substantially based on concerns re slowing air travel. United Airlines dropped more than 6% and is down nearly 5% premarket. 5. Futures point slightly up so far this AM. 6. Palantir Technologies dropped 10% yesterday. This brought it down to essentially flat year to date. 7. Reddit, Inc. and Robinhood each fell nearly 20% yesterday. 8. Trump Media & Technology Group dropped nearly 12% yesteday. He is having a challenging week. 9. Two of the firms whose numbers we never fully trust also dropped yesterday. RH fell more than 11%. Carvana also dropped 11% yesterday. "RH has spent down its cash reserves from nearly $1.5 billion to aggressively repurchase its own shares, retiring more than 20% of outstanding stock. Meanwhile, Friedman himself has been selling shares into the repurchase, raising further questions about alignment with shareholders. What kind of nerd spends their week writing 4,500 words about healthcare earnings calls and other healthcare innovation trends from the week for a free Sunday newsletter? That would be me. This week's Health Tech Nerds newsletter was a long one given all the earnings calls last week, and hopefully featured some helpful insights on several subjects. Here's a quick summary of takeaways: ???????????????? ???????????????????? ???????????????? - agilon is shifting strategies in 2025, taking more of a Privia-esqe approach to payor contracting via a “glide-path to risk” ???? ?????????????? ???????????????? - Alignment and Clover are both highlighting the success of their care management approaches, as evidenced by their solid Stars scores, which should pay financial dividends in 2026 and beyond. Both hit Adjusted EBITDA profitability but still have work to do to get to Net Income positive. ?????????????? ???????? ???????????????? - Hims is feeling like the consumer disruptor healthcare has been talking about forever while Teladoc is trying to find its footing as a FFS telehealth offering for the industry ???????????????? ?????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? - The headline seems to be slower overall MA market growth, particularly for the larger players (including some expected large decline for Humana and Aetna). SNP plans are experiencing faster growth on a small base. Devoted’s performance stands out among the smaller players as it shed 15% of its 243,000 members (while Alignment and Clover grew nicely) ???????? ???? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ???? ?????????? - Rock Health and AAFP released some interesting survey results highlighting how PCPs seem quite excited to try AI tools, although are not currently using much today If you want to read all 4,500 words, check out the link to the NL in the comments

The energy and empathy were palpable as attendees shared what is and what isn't working when it comes to care flow design, patient engagement, continuous improvement, change management, provider feedback, and more. From scheduled sessions to quick breaks, you could see, hear, and feel lightbulbs going off. Yet none of this happens by accident. Shoutout to Rik Renard, Thomas Vande Casteele, and the entire CareOps crew for pulling off a thoughtfully planned, heavy-hitting event.
