Health Share was proud to host Senator Ron Wyden to discuss Oregon’s innovative 1115 waiver that protects Oregon Health Plan members with certain medical conditions from eviction. Thank you, Senator, for all that you do to protect our social safety net, including for Health Share members. We know that the best way to address homelessness is to stop it from occurring in the first place and Health Share will continue to collaborate with our federal partners and the Oregon Health Authority to drive the best health outcomes for each member.

Health Share of Oregon is partnering with Youth Villages to support 5 youth in our local area to have a happy holiday season. Please consider joining us in supporting youth/ young adults in our region if you can!
It’s time for Youth Villages' annual Holiday Heroes Campaign—an opportunity to bring joy to local children, young people, and families in our programs. Each child fills out a wish list with three items they hope to receive, and community and corporate volunteers make these wishes come true. For many, this may be their only chance to receive something they truly want. You can help bring joy to hundreds of young people and families in Oregon. But we need your help!! As of today, there are still 120 wish lists for local youth that need to be sponsored. Here’s how you can help! 1. Sign up to fulfill a wish list for a child or family. 2. Make a donation, and we will do the shopping for you! For more information visit - https://lnkd.in/gKijYNXr A huge thank you to the organizations who have already stepped up to sponsor youth and families this year: Dutch Bros Coffee (Portland/Gresham & Central Oregon), TE Connectivity, Old Navy, Boly:Welch, OnPoint Community Credit Union (shout out to our Local Board member Amber Kelly), Windermere Realty Trust (Portland/MLK) and the Windermere Foundation, Enterprise (thank you to Ambassador Board members Devin johnson and Michele Beatty!), Joshua Merrion ChFC with State Farm, Health Share of Oregon (thank you Adam Peterson), Walsh Construction Co., and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee (thank you Whitney Eikmeier, Tyler King, and Rosie Herboth).

We want to take a moment and honor Dr. Phyusin Myint , PhD, MPP, Health Share's Chief Health Equity and Impact Officer, who completed her service on the Oregon Public Health Association's (OPHA) Board after six years. Her leadership spans during the emergence of the COVID pandemic, and the launch of their internal EDI committee and the Oregon Health Equity Taskforce. Congratulations, Dr. Phyusin! Thank you for all you've done alongside OPHA.
This week, Oregon Public Health Association (OPHA) hosted its 80th annual conference in Corvallis, Oregon. While this conference, like many others before it, marked a momentous celebration for public health professionals across Oregon, it was particularly special for me. This week, I stepped down from my role as the immediate past president of OPHA and my time on the OPHA Board after six years of service. As a Board, we have done many incredible things that I am proud of - from launching our internal EDI Committee (which I served as a Co-Chair), to developing our Bylaws, and naming our commitment to health equity and continual learning. I was here with OPHA when we began convening the Oregon Health Equity Task Force, comprised of leaders and community-based organizations that led the effort to get the Oregon Legislature to declare racism a public health crisis. I am thankful for the friendships and allyships from my colleagues on the OPHA board who have been there for me in the early days of our COVID response efforts. I thank our OPHA staff (Executive Director Elisabeth Hartner, MPH?and Program Assistant Dana Merrill for an incredible conference and their tremendous work supporting our outreach and engagement efforts. I am thrilled for the leadership of our current president, JoAnn Miller, and our incoming president in 2025, Angel Harris, MSN, RN. It has been a blessing to serve alongside the Oregon Public Health Association’s?Board in this beautiful state we call home.

Health Share staff had the privilege of attending the Asian Health & Service Center's Annual Gala last night and experiencing a renewed sense of community. We are so grateful to partner with AHSC as they have led for over 40 years to serve the Asian community with inherent wisdom and lived experience, providing intentional services with the belief that one’s cultural identity or language should never be a barrier to accessing quality care. Thank you, Health Share board member Holden Leung and AHSC team for the inspiring evening.

These Community Capacity Building Funds (CCBF) will go towards supporting new housing and nutrition benefits through the Oregon Health Plan. These CBOs will be instrumental in delivering Oregon’s groundbreaking Health-Related Social Needs* (HRSN) benefits, which include supports for climate, housing and nutrition. There will be another opportunity to apply for CCBF in 2025, check the website** for updates. Together, we’re working to improve the health and well-being of our communities. * https://lnkd.in/gqv43nN4 ** https://lnkd.in/gA2Cp2Uz #buildingcapacity #sdoh #housing #nutrition #climate

We're still basking in the afterglow of the inspiring community conversation Health Share of Oregon hosted last week in partnership with Trillium Community Health Plan. The topic was improving access to social-emotional health services for children birth-age 5, and a full house of brilliant cross-sector partners participated, bringing their considerable passion and wisdom to bear. A huge thank you to Representative Lisa Reynolds, Adelante Mujeres, Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, and the All:Ready Network for sharing in our vision and supporting our youngest members during their most formative years. We are excited for the work that lies ahead!?#kindergartenreadiness #healthequity #earlyintervention #socialdeterminantsofhealth

Health Share is closed today in observance of the 159th anniversary of Juneteenth, the date in 1865 when?the final enforcement of the?Emancipation Proclamation?was ordered in?Texas?at the end of the?American Civil War. We hope you and yours have time to reflect today on both the progress we've made since then and the tremendous amount of work that remains to be done. At Health Share of Oregon, we are working towards not only closing health equity gaps for our Black and African American members but ensuring that members of these and other BIPOC communities play a meaningful role in shaping our policies, priorities and investment strategies. We're making important progress and humbly acknowledge that we still have a long way to go. #juneteenth #freedomday #emancipationday #healthequity #membervoice https://lnkd.in/gSRcnE2
