Despite increased awareness of health care’s deep-rooted disparities, many health care organizations have struggled with identifying and addressing inequities among the communities they serve. Organizations must take a data-driven approach to accurately pinpoint disparities and create effective solutions but knowing how and where to start—and how to drive continued progress—can be difficult. That’s why we in 2022 launched our Health Equity Pledge—a bold, three-year, cross-industry initiative to help organizations meaningfully strengthen data foundations and better identify disparities, diagnose root causes, and instill accountability for eliminating them. Recently, leaders at the forefront of these efforts—Tosan O. Boyo, President of Sutter Health’s East Bay Market; Rachel Thornton, MD, PhD, FAAP, VP & Chief Health Equity Officer, Nemours Children’s Health; and Kelli Tice, MD, VP, Medical Affairs & Chief Health Equity Officer, GuideWell & Florida Blue—reflected on their public commitment through the Pledge and diligent work to deliver against it. Read about the challenges they encountered, their lessons learned, and their guidance for organizations working to address health disparities here: https://lnkd.in/etbGMSPg And take a deeper dive into insights from the Health Equity Pledge in our new report, Advancing Health Equity with Data and Bold Commitment: https://lnkd.in/e3Ygc-wY #HEConnect24

Value-based payment arrangements with two-sided risk aren’t common in the commercial health insurance market, even though creating a financially sustainable commercial payment model is more important than ever. Many industry leaders believe making commercial VBP arrangements with downside risk more predictable and common offers a path forward for creating a financially sustainable payment model while delivering high-quality, whole-person care. But information on what does and doesn’t work in risk-based arrangements in the commercial market is not transparently available. ? To help advance adoption of VBP arrangements with downside risk in the commercial market, Health Evolution Fellows in our Roundtable on Commercial Risk-Based Contracting participated in the Value-Based Payment Cohort Study to identify and share key learnings that could define win-win arrangements in risk-based contracting, as well as design guidelines to build those contracts. Our new report outlines industry leaders’ recommendations to make win-win commercial VBP arrangements with downside risk more predictable and common. Learn how your organization can adopt commercial contracts that incentivize high-quality, whole-person care at a sustainable cost: https://lnkd.in/eK7jCFmr
