In today’s age of #AI, the imperative of racial health equity must be addressed. As a coalition of 80+ cross-sector leaders of color united in advancing health equity across the Commonwealth, the Health Equity Compact is profoundly concerned about the imminent worsening of health disparities and reduced access to care that will result from the?Steward?Health Care crisis.?We care deeply about the patients, workers, and communities impacted by these hospital closures and transitions. The communities which have historically experienced the least investments in health care resources and social drivers of health are now carrying the greatest burden from this crisis. The Health Equity Compact stands in solidarity with these communities, and our members are ready to bring their professional expertise and lived experiences to support the collective response that will be needed to help these communities rebound. Wow, what a momentous day for #HealthEquity in the Massachusetts State House! ? Compact members Thea James, MD, MPH, MBA Jeffrey Sánchez, MPA Elsie Taveras, MD, MPH Allison Bryant Mantha and staff Lindsey Tucker Sonna Obiorah were present to witness Office of Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey sign the maternal health bill into law. This comprehensive bill will expand access to doulas, birth centers, and midwifery—critical steps towards ensuring that all families receive the care and support they need regardless of race, zip code, or socioeconomic status. We are thrilled to see the Commonwealth once again leading the way in advancing health equity! ? A huge thank you to Liz Miranda Cindy FRIEDMAN Marjorie Decker Julian Cyr @Bud Williams Brandy Fluker Oakley, Esq. Kay Khan and all the legislators who championed?this transformational legislation.
