HEFN Welcomes Angelo Logan to the Steering Committee! We are thrilled to welcome Angelo Logan, Senior Director, Environmental and Climate Justice at the Liberty Hill Foundation to the HEFN Steering Committee! For over 22 years, Angelo has been a dedicated leader in environmental and climate justice, working at the intersection of community organizing, policy advocacy, and systemic change. He began his journey in 2000 as an organizer with Communities for a Better Environment, where he helped successfully prevent a polluting power plant from being built in Southeast LA. As the principal co-founder of East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, Angelo helped transform the organization from a grassroots neighborhood group into a powerful force for land use, transportation, and environmental justice at a national level. His leadership has continued through his role as Policy Campaign Director at The Moving Forward Network, where he unites over 50 organizations across 23 states to confront the environmental and climate impacts of ports, freight, and global goods movement. Angelo's expertise is widely recognized—he served on the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council, advising on national environmental justice policy, and has held key appointments with the EPA, SCAQMD, and EV Infrastructure Strike Force. His commitment to justice and equity is also reflected in his service on the boards of Harbor Community Benefit Foundation, Human Impact Partners, and Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs. We are honored to have Angelo’s vision, leadership, and deep commitment to frontline communities on the HEFN Steering Committee. Please join us in giving him a warm welcome! ???? #EnvironmentalJustice #ClimateJustice #HEFN #Leadership #CommunityPower

New Giving Insight Blog Post! Time to Lean In: Resourcing for the Long Haul written by our Executive Director, Ansje Miller. ?? Our environmental health infrastructure is under attack—but we have the power to fight back and build something better. The Supreme Court is weakening the Clean Water Act. Coal plants are being revived. The EPA is disbanding key environmental justice offices. This isn’t just a series of isolated setbacks—it’s a coordinated effort to strip away protections for people and the planet. But this moment demands more than just defense. We need to invest in long-term change. That means: ? Cutting red tape for grantees so they can focus on the work ? Moving money faster to support organizations on the frontlines ? Providing multi-year funding for stability and vision This is a moment of both crisis and opportunity. What we fund today will shape the future for decades to come. Let’s make sure we’re resourcing the long game. ???? Read it here: https://lnkd.in/e9Jq8k92 #EnvironmentalJustice #Philanthropy #ClimateAction #FundTheFuture

So excited to have the amazing Sierra Martinez (he/him) joining the HEFN Steering Committee, we look forward to working with you!
Built for these times. That’s my first takeaway from meeting the amazing folks that make Health and Environmental Funders Network (HEFN) shine. Many days, it feels like this moment is just too large to wrap my head around. No matter how many articles I read. But what relief it is to have HEFN stitching together many and diverse threads. To paint the larger picture. And help philanthropy meet this moment of historic proportions. Overall, just wowed with the level of strategic and intentional practice at HEFN to grow and shift power. Decidedly built for these times. https://lnkd.in/g8zX-iU3 Honored to join this crew: Ansje Miller Kalila Booker-Cassano Ninya Loeppky GlenAndrea Brown Kojo Spencer Brandy Lucky Ann Blake Kalila Barnett Malavika Sahai Anuja Mendiratta Leslie Hatfield Bill Walsh Trevor Thompson Cynthia Renfro Erica Browne, DrPH, MPH @Angelo Logan
