Hurry and claim your space in our free webinar looking at the recent executive actions and what they will mean for charitable nonprofits. The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind for many nonprofits, from the more than 100 Executive Orders (EOs) issued by President Trump to the confusion about the funding freeze ordered in a memo from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB). While a judge granted a Temporary Restraining Order in the case filed by the National Council of Nonprofits and others, and OMB rescinded?the memo, the EOs are still in effect, and charitable nonprofits with federal grants are still feeling the impact of these decisions. If you want to join us live, register here: https://bit.ly/42EZkHr If you can’t join us live, but want to register to receive the recording, please register here: https://bit.ly/4jHL0Ux ____________________________ Confirmed Speakers: ??Tiffany Carter, Policy Counsel, National Council of Nonprofits ??Nonoko Sato, President & CEO, Minnesota Council of Nonprofits ??Diane Yentel, President & CEO, National Council of Nonprofits

February is Black History Month—a time to reflect on the resilience, brilliance, and contributions of Black people in the face of ongoing systemic oppression. But let’s be clear: a month of recognition does not erase centuries of harm, nor does it mean progress is guaranteed. White supremacy is embedded into the very fabric of this country, and we are still far from living up to the principles of justice and equality that the U.S. claims to uphold. Police brutality continues to take Black lives. The racial wealth gap persists. Voter suppression efforts target Black communities. And now, DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging) is under attack—threatening programs and policies that seek to address historical and present-day racial inequities. When politicians and corporations roll back DEIA/DEIB commitments, they aren’t just making a policy shift—they are upholding the same systems of oppression that have always sought to exclude Black people from power, resources, and opportunity. They are sending a message that Black lives, Black voices, and Black futures are disposable. Black Lives Matter. This month and every month, we encourage everyone to confront the anti-Blackness that exists in the work you do and the spaces you occupy. Ask yourself: Who is being centered? Who is being excluded? Who is being expected to conform, assimilate, or shrink themselves to fit into predominantly white institutions? Honoring Black history means fighting for Black futures. It means resisting the erasure of #DEIA, holding institutions accountable, and ensuring that Black communities receive not just recognition—but justice, reparations, and real change. #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackFutures #DEIA #AntiBlackness #BlackLivesMatter #DEIB

Update: The Trump admin rescinded the order completely. Its a victory. But let’s be ready for whatever they try next. Likely they’ll revise the order and do it again. This is a victory. It’s only until Monday, but it’s a demonstration of what is possible when our sector leaders take quick, decisive action. The fight is ongoing. But I’m energized by National Council of Nonprofits and Democracy Forward and others who are fighting this administration and its unlawful and immoral activities. Let’s take a moment to breathe. And then we keep going.
YES. Advocacy works. Grateful to National Council of Nonprofits and coalition leaders for protecting the nonprofit sector and our most vulnerable communities. Note that the the administrative stay pauses the freeze only until Monday. There's more work to be done! https://lnkd.in/gm2JDgNM

Thank you for sharing this important resource, National Council of Nonprofits.
Since his inauguration, President Trump has signed dozens of executive orders covering a broad range of issues, including many that impact charitable nonprofits directly or indirectly. Some won’t take effect immediately and will be challenged in court. Check out our analysis of how the executive orders may impact diversity, equity, and inclusion programs; government grants and contracts; civic engagement; immigration; and certain nonprofit subsectors: https://bit.ly/4jslYIM We will be updating this document as more executive orders are announced. #Nonprofits #CommunityImpact

The far right and white supremacists aren’t clueless. They know exactly what they’re doing. And so do we. As we return to work today, let’s ground ourselves, take a sip of our coffee or tea, and double down on our work. The Executive Orders (EO) aren’t just about dismantling “DEI programs.†It’s about unraveling decades of progress in workplace fairness and human dignity. Let’s be clear: before it was DEI, it was Equal Employment Opportunity. Before that, Affirmative Action. Before that, Civil Rights. This latest attack claims to target “radical and wasteful DEI programs,†but what it’s really targeting is human rights—the right to dignity, equity, and justice for all people. The language may change, but the fight remains the same. These efforts threaten entrenched systems of privilege and power, and that’s exactly why they’re under attack. These EOs aren’t about saving taxpayer dollars or improving efficiency. They’re about erasing hard-won progress toward inclusion and justice. They’re about silencing those who have been historically excluded, marginalized, and oppressed. But here’s the thing: erasing the phrase doesn’t erase the movement. Those of us committed to equity and justice have always adapted, and we always will. True change is about more than words; it’s about creating systems that center human dignity. And we’re not going anywhere. So as we start this week, let’s recommit. These EOs are a call to dig deeper, organize smarter, and resist harder. This isn’t just about DEI programs. It’s about the soul of our communities and our shared vision of a future where everyone belongs. And here’s what gives me hope: The principles of dignity and equity have survived far worse. They’ve outlasted every attempt to diminish them because they aren’t just “programs.†They’re fundamental human rights. Let’s keep going. #DEI #DEIA #HumanRights #SocialJustice #EquityAndInclusion #CivilRights #DignityForAll #JusticeMatters #OrganizeForChange #InclusiveWorkplaces #ResistOppression #allies #nonprofits #belonging
