This month's Volunteer Spotlight is on Rick Arbuckle. Rick is the planning coordinator for the Fore Our Community Charity Golf Classic, being held on Friday, April 25 this year. Rick's service to the Healing Bridge Clinic is a testament that people from all walks of life - whether they are medical, administrative, or fundraisers - can serve our patients. Rick's help with our annual golf tournament is crucial. When asked what he gets out of volunteering with us, Rick replied, "For me, it is knowing I am helping raise funds that are so necessary to enable HBC to continue providing services to the local and surrounding communities." February was a month of incredible impact at the Healing Bridge Clinic! ?? We're thrilled to share we had 806 patient encounters, a HUGE increase of 150 over January! Thanks to our 22 amazing providers, we also completed 167 labs, filled or refilled 164 medications, and had 125 patient visits – all at no cost to our uninsured and underserved community. Saturday was one for the record books! We hosted the biggest and best charity shoot yet at the stunning Big Red Oak Plantation in Gay, Georgia, and it was a resounding success! ?? One year ago today, we marked a significant milestone in the transformation of Healing Bridge Clinic with the start of demolition. This three-month project ushered in a new era for our clinic, modernizing our facilities and enhancing our ability to serve the underserved in our community. It's Phlebotomists Recognition Week, and time to give a special shout-out to Terry Porter, RN, a dedicated volunteer who has been serving at the Healing Bridge Clinic since 2019. Terry's story is truly inspiring. She once walked in our patients' shoes, experiencing firsthand the challenges of being a single mom without health insurance and living below the poverty level. At 30, she overcame those obstacles and became a Registered Nurse, dedicating her career to serving the underserved, and spending 26 years with the U.S. Public Health Service. We're so fortunate that upon retirement, Terry chose to share her expertise and compassion with Healing Bridge Clinic. Volunteer Spotlight! This month, we're shining a light on Mark Trail, an invaluable member of our Healing Bridge Clinic Board of Directors! Mark brings a wealth of experience to our team, having retired as a Managing Principal from Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA) and served as the Chief of the Medical Assistance Plans in the Dept. of Community Health for the State of Georgia. His background also includes a variety of direct care and administrative positions in mental health, developmental disabilities, and addictive diseases. When asked about his involvement with the Healing Bridge Clinic, Mark shared, “The mission of providing health care to those who could not otherwise afford it was the strongest draw for me to be involved.” His dedication to our mission is truly inspiring! What an inspiring night at our volunteer rally for the Healing Bridge Clinic! ?? Huge thanks to everyone who joined us at Word of God Lutheran Church this past Thursday. Your dedication to our mission is truly incredible. ?? We were so fortunate to enjoy a delicious dinner catered by Carrabba's Italian Grill (thank you, Word of God Lutheran Church!) and engage in a powerful round-table discussion exploring: Who Do We Serve? How Do We Serve? and Why Do We Serve? The highlight of the evening was hearing from our patient, Patrick, whose life has been transformed by the Healing Bridge Clinic. Cured of Hepatitis C through our care, he's now employed and looking forward to a hip replacement surgery through our partnership with Resurgens Orthopaedics. Patrick's story is a testament to the impact of our work! ?? We also heard from the heart of our clinic: Family Nurse Practitioner Kim Campbell, Board President Pat Brown, Executive Director Mike Conaway, and Clinic Coordinator Kat Muncher. Their passion and commitment are contagious! A special shout-out to our over 70 amazing volunteers!
