In the aftermath of January's devastating Palisades wildfires, Santa Monica Bay was exposed to a mixture of chemicals deposited by the fires and swept up by surging waves and stormwater runoff. Heal the Bay collected samples from 10 locations in and around the burn zone and tested for 116 pollutants, including heavy metals, PAHs, PCBs, benzene, and PFAS.
