“If my company won’t buy it for me, I’ll buy it myself.” No wonder our latest AI investment hit $1M ARR in just six months—all while selling to lawyers, arguably the most demanding customers on the planet. FX (Francois-Xavier) L. and Edouard D. are building the Harvey of IP law. Patents play a vital role in driving progress. They protect new ideas and ensure fair competition. What begins in research labs needs patents to become a commercial application. But the process of filing an application hasn’t changed in 30 years: they’re still drafted the same way—word by word, document by document. While legal tech has modernized contracts and compliance, patent registration remains stuck in a maze of manual work. Mistakes result in a patent that is non-defensible and, therefore, useless. The pressure on attorneys is immense, but IP talent is scarce and expected to deliver faster than ever (40 hours in the 1990s, down to just 20 hours now) as workloads keep increasing. DeepIP changes this with an AI co-pilot that integrates directly with Microsoft Word and adapts to the desired tone of voice. It has already helped draft 8,500 patent applications and saves attorneys up to 50% of their time in the process. Happy to partner with Resonance, Serena Capital, and Balderton Capital to keep enhancing—not replacing—the critical work IP attorneys do, with AI. Story in the comments below.

Newly-minted Headline Partner Taylor Brandt dropped by the Turning Pro Podcast with Ben Sharf and Adrian Alfieri to discuss the state of venture + startups. The talk was filled with tons of wisdom, like the trade-offs of chasing profitability vs. growth, the art of founder storytelling, and how to run a tight fundraise. Overall, it's an exciting time for startups. "We saw a wave of tourist founders who jumped in when capital was flowing freely—now we're seeing a return to founder intentionality," Taylor said. We’re seeing two different flavors of infrastructure software companies emerge in the AI era. Some are building the new infrastructure stack for AI (hardware, compute, models, and tooling); others are using AI to supercharge key functional areas within infrastructure (dev tools, DevOps & SRE, data & analytics, IT ops, cybersecurity, and Q&A testing). In our latest piece, the Headline infrastructure software team outlines their view of the landscape and shares their key considerations when evaluating deals in the space. Check out the full piece on the duality of infra software investing in the AI world here ?? https://lnkd.in/g3xkCmdA ?? If you’re building at the intersection of AI and infrastructure software, we’d love to hear from you! ?? Jacob Conger + Ram Raval Check out our "Infra of AI" and "AI in Infra" market maps below! ??

Headline is excited to announce our lead investment in Heidi Health's Series A! Heidi is an AI scribe that supports doctors on admin work, giving them hours back in their overburdened days. And the company is rapidly changing the way that healthcare workers do their jobs. In the 6 months since we first evaluated the deal, Heidi has more than 3x'd users and revenue. The WHO projects a shortfall of 10M healthcare workers by 2030. By automating documentation, Heidi isn't just building a productivity tool; they're addressing a global healthcare capacity crisis. Read more about the investment below from Taylor Brandt. And welcome to the portfolio, Heidi! https://lnkd.in/gA2GrY_q

Headline investor Georgina McMillan joined Christina Farr and Luba Greenwood, J.D. on the Second Opinion Podcast to discuss the rise of influencer-backed healthcare brands. Some takeaways from the conversation: ?? Consumers are more engaged in health—but not always through traditional channels. While most of the U.S. isn’t focused on longevity or med spas, these trends are pushing health conversations into the mainstream. ?? Influence is a major distribution advantage. Whether it’s celebrity doctors, longevity experts, or plastic surgeons, social media is how consumers find healthcare. It’s also how businesses scale—if done with trust and credibility. ?? Vanity and aesthetics can be a powerful motivator for health. Looking and feeling your best can be an accessible entry point to caring about long-term health habits. Social media has normalized aesthetic treatments and increased the perceived ROI of investing in appearance. For the full conversation, check out the links below! ?? Listen here:? ? Headline Growth's latest Quarterly Macro Newsletter has dropped! ? Lately, we're noticing a trend. A lot of companies we speak with at Headline Growth end the call asking us about our thoughts on the economy. “What do you think of the current macro?” “Should I pay attention to Powell?” The constant news cycle and volatility of public markets, along with investor sensationalism, makes it impossible to decipher what is happening – and how it will impact growth-stage companies. With that, we present the second edition of Headline Growth’s new quarterly newsletter to unpack the landscape. Read and subscribe ?? https://lnkd.in/d3HYqvCS
