?? Expanding Resources for Survivors ?? Today, One Safe Place Houston officially opened—a beacon of hope for survivors of domestic violence. With support from Commissioner Lesley Briones, Mayor John Whitmire, the Houston Area Women's Center, and our partners, we’re removing barriers and ensuring survivors have access to housing, legal aid, medical care, and workforce training. ?? The reality: ?? Harris County leads Texas in domestic violence homicides ?? 75% of victims seeking shelter are turned away due to lack of space ?? Only 330 domestic violence shelter beds for 4.7 million residents We refuse to let survivors choose between danger and homelessness.
