Fireplace design can be a unique challenge; probably because it’s not an everyday request. As we scheme materials for our client’s fireplace, here’s a BTS glimpse of a recent visit to Da Vinci Marble’s stoneyard. Our clients asked for handsome, global, and moody, and that is just what they are getting! Stone @davincimarble #hcinteriordesignsf

During our last trip to NYC we had to snag one of these gorgeous ceramic pieces by artist Reinaldo Sanguino. Ours quickly found a home in our new SF studio. Ceramics @r.sanguino #hcinteriordesignsf #NYC

Contrast is key in many of our projects. We especially love this inlaid fireplace by Paris-based designer Sarah Dray. A dark perimeter against a feminine, well-textured sitting area feels moody and inviting. Interior: Sarah Dray #hcinteriordesignsf

Layering is a learned skill. We loved the challenge of layering this home office with paper, pieces, and textiles to create the vibrant, masculine energy our client hoped for. Wallpaper @phillipjeffriesltd Artwork @stephaniebreitbardfinearts #hcinteriordesignsf

This is Lucy Gibson, our beloved and talented junior designer. Born and raised in Scotland, Lucy brings a traditional UK charm that can’t be taught. Her love for travel landed she and her husband in Singapore, where she expanded her design eye to include Asian influence. Not to mention her work in Singapore as a florist! Having a florist on the team is truly a gift that keeps on giving. Lucy is soon welcoming a baby girl and we couldn’t be more thrilled for her. We are so lucky to have her on our team. ????

As a mother of two, when it comes to designing my own home, I’m constantly balancing my love of aesthetics with function + usability. This San Francisco project was a nod to that balance. We created a kid-friendly, extra cozy media room that doesn’t lack form. Artwork @stephaniebreitbardfinearts Pillows @jgswitzer - #hcinteriordesignsf #sfinteriordesigner

A year and a half ago we put the finishing touches on our Four Seasons Residence project in San Francisco. We took a bolder approach with the windows, turning them into the belle of the ball, while balancing gorgeous sculptural art against skyline views. Vintage chairs + blue tables speak for themselves. Overall, we were super pleased with this stylish + cozy vibe. Sculpture art TheFuturePerfect Ltd Vintage chair @coupdetatsf Blue side table @hollyhuntdesign #hcinteriordesignsf #sfinteriordesign

There is something extra special about following design through the lens of other cultures. French architectural designer Pierre Gonalons has always inspired our work. Here, his use of modern touches against the ceiling’s period detail remind us there are always ways to liven up even the most traditional of spaces. Art has a wonderful way of bending the way we consider details. Berkeley artist Rafi Ajl’s glass sculptures mold into shapes that perfectly humor our expectations. Lorri is particularly drawn to Rafi’s work with melted edges and bold use of color. It’s also captivating to see how he brings together different materials, such as using glass sculptures for coffee table legs with a contrasting aluminum top. Rafi’s art reminds us that there’s always room for play and discovery in creativity. It’s inspiring to see an artist so dedicated to exploring the endless possibilities of their craft. - #berkeley #localartist #sfinteriordesign
