The mission of the Hidalgo County Drainage District No. 1 is to proactively manage the Hidalgo County Master Drainage System and allow for the efficient exportation of drainage water, to protect life and property for Hidalgo County residents, businesses and surrounding jurisdictions. The HCDD No. 1 Debris Removal, Shredding & Mowing Maintenance program is active year-round. The goal of this program is to prevent drainage system blockage, or "clogs" which could potentially cause flooding in surrounding areas, and allow for storm water runoff to flow efficiently during rain events.

Last Friday our HCDD1 staff enjoyed a tasty and healthy breakfast as a token of appreciation for everybody’s hard work and dedication to our organization, but most importantly our Hidalgo county. We also want to congratulate our summer interns of 2024, Rafael Ochoa and Alejandra Ollervidez from UTRGV - UTRGV Civil Engineering for completing their internship with HCDD1 We hope that you learned a lot from our organization and will take that knowledge and apply it in their professional lives! - El pasado Viernes, nuestro personal de HCDD1 disfrutó de un desayuno sabroso y saludable para agradecerles por su arduo trabajo y dedicación a nuestra organización, pero más importante, a nuestro condado de Hidalgo.
