During Hurricane #Milton, our HCA Florida Healthcare colleagues demonstrated incredible resilience and dedication as they provided uninterrupted care to our patients — including new moms that were welcoming babies into the world during the storm. At HCA Florida St. Lucie Hospital, one of our tiny patients was given a special name upon making his grand debut during this unforgettable moment — Liam Milton. Proud parents Luisa and Christiano welcomed their new baby boy at the Port St. Lucie hospital on October 9, during Hurricane Milton. “I had already chosen Liam for his name and my husband was going to choose his middle name,” Luisa shared. “Because of the hurricane, he chose Milton.” Across HCA Healthcare, we proudly deliver over 218,000 babies annually. We are grateful for our HCA Healthcare family who provide exceptional care for babies, like Liam Milton, with compassion. Please join us in congratulating Luisa and Christiano on the newest addition to their family! #CareLikeFamily #HCABabies

Last night, Hurricane #Milton struck Florida’s west coast as a Category 3 hurricane, bringing powerful winds, rain and flooding as it moved through the state early this morning. The severe weather events have produced widespread damage and power outages across many communities that HCA Florida Healthcare serves. Ahead of the storm, our HCA Healthcare colleagues came together to prepare our facilities for potential impact by prepositioning construction materials and stationing remediation teams onsite at our hospitals. Additionally, HCA Healthcare's Nashville-based Enterprise Emergency Operations Center (EEOC) worked with our Emergency Medical Services partners to transport patients from high-risk areas to other facilities for safety. We’re continuing to assess the needs of our Florida hospitals and continuously working to ensure critical resources like generators, fuel and water are positioned in impacted areas. During the storm, our HCA Healthcare family showed remarkable dedication, reassuring patients, ensuring safety, and delivering continuous care. We are thankful for their courage, compassion and unwavering commitment to our patients and the communities we serve in the face of Hurricane Milton. Our thoughts and hearts are with everyone affected. In the coming days, we will rebuild together. ?? As impacted areas of Florida begin the process of assessing damage and restoring, it is our priority to take care of our patients as well as each other. The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund is a colleague-run, colleague-supported 501(c)(3) charity that helps HCA Healthcare families through unexpected crises, disasters and other challenging situations. During our Hurricane #Helene response, HCA Healthcare nurse Melissa Graham beautifully captured the heart of nursing, “You learn and remember why you wanted to be a nurse in the first place – which is to help people when they need you the most.” During this time, we’ve seen HCA Healthcare colleagues provide support in incredible ways – to our patients, the communities we serve and each other. Following the storm, colleagues from HCA Healthcare’s Summerville Medical Center in Summerville, South Carolina traveled to assist and support caregivers impacted at sister hospital Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, Georgia. Summerville Medical Center nurses Paolo DeDios, Melissa Graham, and Lanae Simmons were among the 28 registered nurses and three patient care technicians who answered the call to help their HCA Healthcare family without hesitation. To the hundreds of HCA Healthcare colleagues who continue to show up for each other and serve as a beacon of hope – Thank you. ???? #HCANursing #CareLikeFamily

Through 62 years of marriage, Linda and Gary of Swannanoa, North Carolina, have navigated life together. When Linda and Gary took their vows six decades ago, they promised to be by each other’s side, for better and for worse. When Hurricane #Helene made its way to Western North Carolina on September 26, the couple had no idea what their community was about to endure. In the early morning after the storm hit, Gary woke up and could not find his wife. Upon locating Linda, who had fallen, Gary fell, too. They were unable to move until family members were able to come and check on them. Linda and Gary were brought to HCA Healthcare affiliate Mission Health’s Mission Hospital to evaluate the extent of their injuries. While they were bruised, they were grateful to be alive. In the aftermath of the storm, Mission Hospital nurses went the extra mile to ensure Linda and Gary were well taken care of, comfortable and, most importantly, together. Nurses brought the couple’s hospital beds next to one another and set up a dining space for them to share meals together. To our HCA Healthcare colleagues, thank you for your compassion and commitment to supporting our patients in moments like this. #CareLikeFamily?

What we’re made of is incredible people. People like Jennifer Blount, a dedicated food and nutrition services colleague at HCA Healthcare affiliate Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, Georgia. In the wake of the devastation caused by Hurricane #Helene, Jennifer’s story epitomizes courage and the spirit of our HCA Healthcare family. After a night spent sheltering from the storm with her two grandchildren, in the closet of her Vidalia, Georgia home, Jennifer would spend three days trapped inside. Upon finally making her way out the front door, she stood in disbelief at the destruction caused by the storm. “Every tree on my property was down,” Jennifer recalls. “They weren’t just down, they were unrooted.”? Jennifer knew that she needed to get her family to a safe place. Due to the fallen trees, she couldn’t get her car out, so they left their property on foot. She walked seven miles with her two grandchildren to get to her workplace, Memorial Health Meadows Hospital. She told her grandchildren, “I know if anyone’s going to help us, it’s going to be my job.” When Jennifer and her grandchildren made their way to the hospital, they were immediately embraced by her fellow HCA Healthcare colleagues. Her grandchildren were able to eat, shower and rest. Her colleagues encouraged her to rest, but Jennifer insisted that she was ready to get back to work. She was eager to help provide meals for those that were caring for patients after the storm. In less than a week, Jennifer’s team served over 2,000 meals to patients and colleagues — like her. “Memorial Health is a family of joy and love, and I am so thankful to be a part of this family,” said Jennifer through grateful tears. “I’m a true believer that where that love’s at, it doesn’t fade away. And that’s one thing about Memorial Health, their love doesn’t fade away, they show it every day.”? Thank you to our HCA Healthcare colleagues, like Jennifer, who continue to respond powerfully to Helene in the communities we serve. We are grateful for your bravery, resilience and compassion. #CareLikeFamily

Just like a family does, at Mission Health we pull together to care for and support our patients and each other. When Hurricane Helene hit North Carolina, Matt Alligood, nursing director at Mission Hospital was working at the hospital where he would remain for the next several days caring for patients and colleagues as they navigated the aftermath of the storm. During this time, his family was at home unable to leave due to trees that had fallen on their home. Upon hearing about Matt's situation, his HCA Healthcare colleagues sprang into action. To his surprise, when he arrived home a team had been contacted and was already clearing the trees and debris. After the trees were removed, his fellow colleagues shared breakfast with the Alligood family. Matt shared, “Words will never do this act of kindness justice.” The support didn’t stop there. Hundreds of HCA Healthcare nurses from across the country showed up at Mission Hospital to assist our caregivers. Matt expressed, “They showed up with a smile on their face, eager to help, eager to give us just a little bit of reprieve. It’s been amazing.” To Matt and our entire HCA Healthcare family, thank you for answering the call to care for our own as we face and rebuild after Hurricane Helene. We are forever grateful. #CareLikeFamily
