This week HCA Florida Westside Hospital relaunched its revitalized Kaumatua Nurse Mentorship Program, inspired by the Maori concept of a "Kaumatua," a respected elder. This unique initiative pairs seasoned nurses ("Big K") with recent graduates ("Little K") who have just completed their preceptorship. The program, running for 12 weeks, aims to foster emotional well-being, offer guidance, and create a strong sense of belonging for new nurses. With 14 participants in the first cohort, this structured and interactive mentorship provides essential support as they transition into their nursing careers. This week marks the 2-year anniversary of our incredible physical therapists, Mario and Mohammed! Meeting on their first day at HCA Florida Westside Hospital, they quickly became fast friends.
