A fever is generally considered to be 100°F or higher, indicating that your body is fighting off an illness. While most fevers aren’t dangerous, they can be concerning, especially for babies and young children. Earlier this year, Rita Corbert experienced severe stomach pain that brought her to the HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital ER. After receiving initial treatment and being admitted overnight, she was informed the next morning that she would need emergency surgery. There was no time to prepare; the procedure had to happen immediately, and it included the placement of a colostomy bag. Despite the seriousness of her situation, Mrs. Corbert recalls her experience at the hospital with gratitude and warmth. "I received the most incredible care," she says. "The hospital staff looked after me not only physically, but emotionally as well. They even took care of my family." Her husband, Richard Corbert, shares her sentiments: "The emergency room team was outstanding." Thanks to the exceptional care from our doctors, nurses, and physical therapy team at HCA Florida St. Petersburg Hospital, Mrs. Corbert is now enjoying an active, healthy life.
