This afternoon our team raised the Donate Life flag to honor a patient and their family who made the decision to give the gift of life through organ donation. According to Donate Life Florida, nearly 5,000 people in Florida are waiting for a life-saving transplant. Research shows the power of using pets for therapy in the hospital. Volunteers like Susan and certified pet therapy dog Sly, can help boost to mood of people they encounter in our hospital halls. Susan worked as an ICU nurse with us and when she retired, she knew she wanted to come back as a volunteer.
