HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital today recognized the lifesaving efforts of Phil Chiusa, Jeremy Bonczek, Jeffery Avery, William Hedge and Rigoberto Mondragon at Station 13 HERNANDO COUNTY FIRE RESCUE DISTRICT. On December 29, 2024, Rescue 13 and Engine 13 were dispatched to assist a patient in cardiac arrest. In that critical moment, this team demonstrated exceptional professionalism and teamwork. They quickly initiated resuscitation efforts, placed an advanced airway, and administered life-saving cardiac medications. Through their determination and expertise, and after several defibrillations, the patient's heart began beating on its own again. We are thrilled to share that the patient made a full recovery after receiving care at HCA Florida Oak Hill Hospital. This remarkable outcome is a testament not only to the skill and quick actions of our EMS providers but also to the extraordinary partnership between pre-hospital care and our healthcare community. Today, we take a moment to express our deepest gratitude and admiration for these EMS providers. Your actions on that day—and every day—save lives and bring hope to those in their darkest hours.
