Our nurses view their role as more than just a profession, but a commitment to their hometown community. “I’ve lived in the area for 25 years and for me, this is our hometown hospital,” says Jessica Leonard, RN, a nurse at HCA Florida Bayonet Point Hospital. “I see friends, their significant others, and my family members, so you see a lot of familiar faces here. It makes me feel good that they trust us to take care of them. For me, it’s a privilege to help our community and especially the people I know. It’s important to be a hand for the patient to hold on the hard days and celebrate with them on the good days. I’m honored to be with them every step of the way.” #WeShowUp #Positive?Impact #CareLikeFamily

HCA Healthcare West Florida Division is pleased to announce that President Jyric Sims, Ph.D., has been named as an inductee to the Louisiana State University (LSU) Hall of Distinction for 2024. Sims is one of nine inductees selected for this prestigious honor that recognizes alumni who have brought credit and distinction to the University through their careers, their person and civic accomplishments and loyalty to LSU. This is the highest honor bestowed on a graduate. A panel of judges reviewed hundreds of biographies of LSU’s more prominent graduates for the selection. “The LSU Alumni Association Hall of Distinction recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves and LSU through their careers, personal and civic accomplishments as well as loyalty to their alma mater,” said Joe Carvalhido, president of the LSU Alumni Association. “There is no higher honor bestowed upon alums from the LSU Alumni Association. The impressive collection of past honorees shows LSU has a strong and rich history of successful alumni.” “I am extremely honored and humbled to be inducted in the 2024 LSU Hall of Distinction class with other very deserving honorees. LSU is a university that not only provided me with a first class education and lifelong alumni network, but it is also where I found community, became a student leader and met my wife” said Sims. “As a first-generation college student, I am so grateful to LSU for the generational trajectory change for my family.” A black-tie Hall of Distinction gala will be held on April 12, 2024 on the LSU campus where Sims and his fellow Honorees will be inducted.
