Today marks HBF Physio by Life Ready’s 1st birthday, and wow, what a year it has been! Over the course of HBF Physio’s first year, we have opened six clinics across Western Australia: one brand new clinic in Bull Creek and the rebranding of five Life Ready clinics to HBF Physio in Baldivis, Busselton, Butler, Midland, and Rockingham. Reflecting on the past year, Dr Daniel Heredia, Group Executive of Insurance and Health Services, says, “We’re delighted to have provided Physio treatment at over 70,000 appointments since opening our doors 12 months ago. HBF Physio appointments represent a growing number of the 360,000 services we deliver across the Life Ready and HBF Physio network. The no-gap offer has been a great added benefit for our members, providing extra value on HBF health cover through HBF Physio locations. It’s amazing to think that a year ago the HBF Physio brand didn’t exist and within 12 months we’ve been able to build member awareness for it to be the most recognised physiotherapy brand in WA.” Check out HBF Physios services and book today at hbfphysio.com.au. ?

HBF Health is excited to announce the launch of HBF Patient Pulse – an important initiative enabling us to share valuable member insights with medical and hospital providers to assist in the continual improvement of care provided to our members. As a not-for-profit health fund, our focus is on our members’ health and wellbeing. We believe there is an important role for us to provide a voice to our members to share their hospitalisation experience and outcome of that care. The initiative will provide eligible HBF members the option of responding to clinically specific questionnaires incorporating evidence-based measures tailored to the patient over multiple interactions during their illness, treatment and recovery journey. This feedback will be consolidated and shared with medical and hospital providers to highlight what is working well and where improvements could be made from a patient’s perspective. As Australia's fifth biggest health fund and a not-for-profit organisation, we believe that HBF has an important role to play in seeking to enhance our members’ health and wellbeing. More information about Patient Pulse can be found in a recent edition of Medical Forum featuring an interview with Dr Daniel Heredia, HBF's Group Executive, Insurance and Health Services, or on our website. https://lnkd.in/gxHTRa55

Cardiovascular disease remains one of Australia's most important health challenges and is responsible for 25% of all deaths in Australia. However, HBF Health’s The COACH Program? is making a substantial impact in addressing this concerning statistic. Our recent study, conducted in partnership with The COACH Program? and published in the American Journal of Medicine, reveals the transformative effects on health outcomes of personalised telephone coaching through The COACH Program?. Key findings include a 34% reduction in cardiovascular-related deaths, an 8% decrease in hospitalisations, and an average annual savings of $1,499 for HBF members who took part. Offered to HBF members, The COACH Program? provides tailored support for managing chronic disease such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes through a six-month coaching service delivered by experienced healthcare professionals, like Kate and Phaedra (pictured). This research shows the significant benefits of personalised health management, which many everyday Australians may not realise is available through their health insurance. The Program’s approach of setting simple goals and providing accountability through health coaches not only helps reduce lifestyle and biomedical risks but also significantly lowers healthcare costs for both members and the health system. I extend my gratitude to the research team led by Professor Josh Byrnes from the Centre for Applied Health Economics at Griffith University team for their valuable contributions to this important work. Yesterday, HBF Health hosted an insightful webinar in partnership with Grace Molloy from Menopause Friendly Australia. The webinar addressed the significant impact menopause can have on women's overall well-being—physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. Menopause symptoms, such as hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances, not only disrupt daily life but can also have long-lasting effects on productivity and mental health. Recent studies show that 80% of individuals experiencing menopause are employed, yet 83% report reduced productivity due to their symptoms, and 67% express concerns about their mental health. As we strive to be a leading employer in supporting women through this phase of life, our Chief People Officer, Amy Stanley, emphasised,?“At HBF, we are committed to creating a workplace that prioritises empathy and support for all employees. Understanding the challenges of menopause is a crucial step towards fostering an inclusive and accommodating environment.”

Our Health and Safety team has been busy hosting ‘SafeTea’ sessions for our people at HBF’s branch network, head office, and virtually across Australia as part of National Safe Work Month. We’re driving home the message that “safety is everyone’s business”, reminding us that maintaining a healthy and safe work environment is both a fundamental right and a collective responsibility. As part of the sessions, we're raising awareness of crucial safety practices, like spotting and reporting hazards before they escalate, and recognising incidents—big or small—so we can learn and prevent future mishaps. We are pleased to announce a multi-year upgrade to HBF’s technology and systems has recently completed, positioning HBF to be able to provide the best possible experience for our members, providers, and employees into the future. ? The new and improved technology delivered through HBF’s Transformation Program has seen HBF migrate it's legacy mainframe based core insurance platform and legacy CRM?to all cloud-based systems with enhanced functionality and features, meaning members can more easily engage with us through our digital channels and via seamless self-service interactions across our website, App and member portal (myHBF). Our people are now working with improved, interconnected systems, which will enable us to more efficiently solve members’ health needs wherever and whenever they need us. HBF Chief Information and Transformation Officer Sanjeev Gupta says: “The introduction of more intuitive and efficient systems makes it even simpler for our members to manage payments, submit claims, view limits and usage, and edit personal details. ? “By modernising the systems that manage our member policies and claims processing, and by launching a new website and CRM (Customer Relationship Management), we will be able to enhance and streamline how our people interact with members and providers. In particular, these more intuitive systems will provide our people with greater insights to support our members’ evolving health needs and improve the resolution at the first point of contact. “The business led scaled agile model that has been implemented as part of transformation, along with the new cloud-based technologies, sets us up nicely to quickly respond to member and market needs, improving the speed of delivery and delivering value faster. “This is the culmination of many years of hard work, and I sincerely thank our employees as well as our delivery partners including PwC, Civica, Deloitte, Salesforce, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Mantel Group and the many others who have supported in the build, delivery, testing and implementation of this significant program.” https://lnkd.in/gYmD3GGT #ATransformedFutureforHBF?

Yesterday was R U OK? Day and in support of this important initiative our HBF Health people proudly wore yellow. R U OK? Day serves as a powerful reminder to check in on those around us and offer support, understanding, and empathy. A conversation can save a life. We encourage everyone to reach out, ask someone how they’re really doing, and let them know you’re there to actually listen. Your support can brighten someone’s day and help them feel less alone. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay, and together we can create a more connected and supportive community. #RUOKDay #MentalHealthMatters #SupportEachOther

Last week, we were delighted to host a Chief Executive Women (CEW) event at our Perth office featuring Mary Wooldridge, CEO of the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), alongside our Chief People Officer, Amy Stanley. Mary and Amy had a thought-provoking discussion about the current state of gender equality in the workplace, sharing valuable insights and experiences. Their conversation highlighted both the progress made and the obstacles still to be overcome, offering a look at what lies ahead in the pursuit of true gender equality. Commenting on the event Amy Stanley said: “Workplace gender equality is one of our key priorities at HBF so it was a privilege to host Mary at our HBF offices. It was wonderful to hear first-hand from Mary her insights into best practice to close the gender pay gap. We will now look to see how we can incorporate these into our Gender Equality Action plan.” Events like this one are instrumental in fostering the conversations and actions needed to create lasting change. Thank you to CEW for providing HBF with the opportunity to host this important event. #CEW #WGEA #genderequality
