Voice of the Residential Construction Industry Since 1951. The Home Builders Association of Central Arizona (HBACA) is a trade association for the residential construction and development industry. The Association provides a forum through which these businesses can work together to remain informed regarding new and proposed policies advanced by the local, state and federal governments which affect the housing industry. The Association acts as a source of timely and reliable information concerning the state of the local building industry and works to eliminate overly restrictive and costly building laws and regulations that drive up the cost of housing.

To kick off the 2024 Southwest Builders Show, we hosted our annual Purchasing Agents, Suppliers and Subcontractors (P.A.S.S.) Breakfast, sponsored by Diversified Builder Supply. Thirty builder companies’ purchasing agents and executives served as table hosts among the 300 attendees. The HBACA’s CEO, Jackson Moll made a welcoming introduction and facilitated an informative discussion with guest speaker, M. Nolan Gray, senior director of legislation and research for California YIMBY. Nolan is the Author of Arbitrary Lines: How Zoning Broke the American City and How to Fix It, and an expert in housing policy and urban land-use regulation. This educational program provided insight on the housing affordability crisis across the United States, here in Arizona and what our industry can and is doing to help.

State law forces Phoenix to shift on casita rules. What's different about casita regulations now: - Phoenix homeowners can now build two accessory dwelling units per lot, instead of one. - Homeowners can build a third ADU if the lot is at least one acre, and if one of the ADUs is considered "Affordable Housing." - Phoenix will no longer require the same design review standards that required that an ADU "match the exterior design, roof pitch or finishing materials of the single-family dwelling," city documents said. https://lnkd.in/g8rvr3TF

Employment growth and housing demand are closely linked, each driving the other in a feedback loop that shapes regional economies. The economies in the 25 largest markets by population grew 1.2% year-over-year, accounting for 36% of total job growth. Our latest research explores a divide between high-growth employment leaders and those facing challenges. Highlights include: ?Texas, Texas, Texas! 3/5 top markets for total employment growth are in Texas. ?Houston, the 5th largest population center in the nation, is the top market for high-income job growth, highlighting the longstanding diversification of the market away from just energy. ?San Antonio ranked #1 for overall employment growth and #5 for high-income job growth, despite being 24th for the overall metro population. ?Among the top 25 population markets, 12 reported YOY declines in high-income jobs including Orlando and Atlanta.
