关于我们
Incorporated in 1922, the City of Hawthorne currently has a population of nearly 87,000 within a six square mile area. Ideally located near the Los Angeles International Airport, connected by rail to the Port of Los Angeles and downtown Los Angeles, and surrounded by the San Diego (I-405), Harbor (I-110), and Glenn M. Anderson (I-105) Freeways, the City of Hawthorne could easily be termed the "Hub of the South Bay." By virtue of its location, Hawthorne affords easy, quick access to all that Southern California offers; culture, sports, entertainment, mountains, and beaches. Temperatures in the area are always among the most pleasant in the Los Angeles basin. The City of Hawthorne possesses a shared vision towards the future to create a great city and build an economy that supports the community's desire for a high quality of life.

A Black History Month Celebration was held on Friday, February 28th at City Hall. Around 30 individuals were recognized for their contributions and accomplishments in Hawthorne and beyond, including Hawthorne's first ever African-American Mayor, City Treasurer, and more! The event included colorguard from American Legion Auxiliary Jackie Robinson Unit 252, which is an all black women group, and also included two singers, Abidun (Abi) Koya and Eiress Wick who sang some beautiful songs. Special Thanks to our City Clerk Dayna Williams Hunter and her staff for putting on this great event for our City of Hawthorne! #GPS #growth #progress #service #hawthorne #BlackHistoryMonth

It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of Guy Hocker, Hawthorne's FIRST directly elected Mayor. The City of Hawthorne stands united in heartfelt tribute to the remarkable life and legacy of Guy Hocker, whose unwavering devotion and extraordinary contributions have forever shaped our beloved community. For over fifty vibrant years, Mr. Hocker has not only been a distinguished leader in real estate and public service but also a beacon of hope and progress in our city. As Hawthorne’s very first elected mayor, he laid the foundational stones of governance with vision and integrity, and as president of the Hawthorne Chamber of Commerce, he championed the spirit of business and collaboration that fuels our community’s heartbeat. His impact extends far beyond titles; Mr. Hocker was a driving force behind transformative developments that blossomed within our city and across the South Bay region. A relentless advocate, he poured his heart into nurturing the community, and his presence was felt in every corner of Hawthorne. In 2022, with warmth and grace, he delivered the opening remarks at Hawthorne’s Time Capsule Ceremony, a poignant moment that celebrated a hundred years of our shared history—a testament to his profound connection with the city and its people. As we gather to honor his enduring legacy, we feel the weight of his absence deeply. Mr. Hocker’s dedication, passion, and inspiring leadership have become the very fabric of Hawthorne’s growth and community spirit, and his contributions will echo throughout the ages. The profound sadness that envelops his passing is shared by colleagues, friends, and the countless residents whose lives he enriched with his kindness and unwavering support. We will forever cherish the indelible mark he left on our hearts and our city, and we vow to carry forward his vision, ensuring that his spirit continues to illuminate the path of progress for generations to come.
