It was a privilege to co-teach with Prof. S. Drew Peabody, PhD a new course offering at the Elon University - Martha and Spencer Love School of Business. I'm passionate about venture finance and having a classroom of curious and dedicated seniors learn about this field was a highlight of the last semester. I applaud our students for taking a course with such a challenging topic that touches on so many disciplines. As one student said, "This class truly piqued my interest on the world of venture capital and made me think differently; I appreciate you pushing me out of my comfort?zone." I'm so grateful for the remarkable speakers who joined us to add their important expertise to the course including Timothy McLoughlin, C. Ashton Newhall, Annie Evans, Matthew Bower, Doug Neal, Shea Coakley, Matt Snow, Jean-Marie Klumper, Stephanie Neiman, William McGuire as well as the founders who pitched their ventures to us: Shriya B., Wesley Horbatuck, Greg Orfe, Laura Stewart, Ches Stewart. We recently participated in NCFILs pitch competition and met some really inspiring food companies and such a supportive and insightful panel of judges. Definately recommend this event to other plant-based food companies!
From mushrooms to sweet potatoes to hot sauce, innovative food + beverage products were on full display at NCFIL's inaugural Food-Tech Pitch Contest and Workshop this October. Winners included New South Sweetpotato People, RhizeBio + Jabin Beverage Co. This event was a vision of #NCFIL Executive Director Bill Aimutis and Bühler Group's Thierry Duvanel.
