Despite their large size, Secretarybirds can be surprisingly hard to find. Their populations are low, and their nests are elusive. In 2023, HWI’s Dr. Meg Murgatroyd began fieldwork monitoring this Endangered species in the southernmost part of their range—the Western Cape of South Africa.
