The green spaces at Ward Village offer a variety of wellness, relaxation, and recreation options for residents and visitors. The makai side of Victoria Ward Park will open early next year, while the mauka side is closed for expansion through 2025. The completion of both parks will feature a new playground, impressive art installations, and approximately 3.5 acres of revitalized space spanning from mauka to makai. In celebration of the expansion of Victoria Ward Park, Ward Village commissioned Grammy-nominated, Nā Hōkū Hanohano award-winning musician and mele practitioner Zachary Lum to write an original song. ? Inspired by the location of Ward Village, Zachary combed through historical maps, place names, weather patterns, and native planting to inform the lyrics that honor the legacy of wayfinding and the land’s historical significance. ? We invite the community to view the Hawaiian and English lyrics of the new mele “Kaulana Kukuluāe?o,” incorporated within the sidewalk fronting Victoria Place along Auahi Street in Ward Village, enhancing the streetscape. The song will also be played throughout the neighborhood. ? Residents and visitors can now experience its variety of 50-minute classes focusing on strength, cardio, endurance, or a combination of these elements. Expect innovative group strength training programs, state-of-the-art equipment, and 14 class types led by highly accredited coaches, catering to all fitness levels. ? The 2,997-square-foot space is one of the largest in the country, designed by PSA Architects, and built by Honolulu-based Dave Foster Builders. ?
