Congratulations to the late Richard Gribbin
Our 2025 Hall of Fame Inductee
Rich dedicated over 50 years to the asphalt industry, both in New Jersey and Hawaii, and served as HAPI President in 2008 and 2010. Beginning as a laborer, his career steadily advanced through asphalt plant operator and QC technician. As QC Manager for Jas. W. Glover, Ltd. from 2003 to 2024, Rich made significant local and national technical contributions, earning the reputation as a trusted expert and winning the respect of colleagues as a passionate advocate battling for the long-term success of the industry.

Dear HAPI and everyone at Glover, especially John, Maile and Jay,
On behalf of the Gribbin family, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hawai‘i Asphalt Paving Industry (HAPI) and Jas. W. Glover, Ltd. for honoring my father, Richard Gribbin, with induction into the HAPI Hall of Fame. This recognition is a profound testament to his dedication, passion, and remarkable contributions to the asphalt industry over the past five decades.
My Dad’s journey in the industry began humbly as a laborer in New Jersey, where his curiosity and determination set him on a path of continuous learning and professional growth. From operating asphalt plants to mastering the intricate responsibilities of quality control as a technician and later a manager, he embodied the values of hard work and perseverance. Personally, I learned the value of hard work from him. His tenure as HAPI President and his role as QC Manager at Jas. W. Glover, Ltd. from 2003 to 2024 stand as a testament to his leadership, technical expertise, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
In his decades of service, I witnessed my Dad’s influence reach far beyond the confines of individual projects. He was not only a trusted expert but also a passionate advocate for the long-term success of the industry. His contributions, both local and national, set a high standard for quality and innovation, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and peers. The recognition of his legacy through this Hall of Fame induction is a fitting tribute to the impact he made in a field he cared for so deeply.
My family and I are deeply moved by this honor and the acknowledgment of his life’s work. Our family takes great comfort in knowing that his dedication and passion will continue to inspire others in the industry he loved so much. Thank you for preserving and celebrating his legacy in such a meaningful way.
