Meet Sophia, our Clinical Team Lead for our Adult Units! Sophia earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from Michigan State University. Before joining Havenwyck, she spent eight summers working at a children's camp, where she gained valuable experience working in children's case management. She also spent some time at a community mental health agency in Flint, MI, further developing her skills. Sophia began her journey with Havenwyck as an MSW intern in our Adolescent Unit in August 2021. In May 2022, she transitioned to full-time in the Adult Unit and has since worked across all units, including adult care, bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to every role! In her free time, Sophia enjoys reading, attending Detroit City Football Club soccer games, and spending quality time with her family. When asked what her favorite part about working at Havenwyck is, she responded with, "The teamwork within the Social Work Department." Sophia deeply trusts all her colleagues and values the meaningful relationships she's built with the Technicians and Nurses in each unit. Together, they work every day to build trust and ensure safety for everyone. Sophia also mentioned the leadership within the Social Work Department is truly exceptional. Leaders like Lauren and Aubrey are dedicated to helping every team member grow into the best social worker they can be. Their support and guidance are instrumental in advancing our careers and achieving our goals. We are grateful for Sophia's dedication and the compassionate care she provides to our patients and team! Thank you for all you do! #MeetTheTeamMonday #EmployeeSpotlight

On our next employee spotlight, we'd like to introduce Tameka, our Outpatient Navigator! Tameka brings a wealth of experience and dedication to our team. She studied Criminal Justice at Southern Arkansas University before transferring to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Prior to joining Havenwyck, Tameka served as an Area Supervisor in Oakland County, supporting individuals with mental and physical disabilities. In this role, she oversaw daily operations and supervised staff across multiple facilities and homes. With nearly 18 years in the mental health field, Tameka is deeply committed to helping others! Outside of work, Tameka is a devoted wife and mother who enjoys going to church, singing, dancing, and decorating. She also runs a small business called MUDD (Making Unique Decor Design), where she designs and decorates for parties and events. Tameka's favorite part about working at Havenwyck is helping the patients we serve. Tameka went on to say, "Building a rapport and seeing someone benefit from something I've said or done is an amazing accomplishment." Thank you, Tameka, for all you do to make Havenwyck a special place for our staff and patients!
