"Unlocking the digital fortress! I've just leveled up in my cybersecurity journey, completing my second class and gaining deeper insights into the fascinating world of online threats and defenses. Get ready for some exciting takeaways and lessons learned as I share my adventure into the realm of cybersecurity!" My tutor as usual ???? Jamaal Raheem took us through the threat vectors actors,frame work and controls. Threat vectors are paths or methods used by cybercriminals or malicious actors to gain unauthorized access to a system,network or devices. These vectors exploit vulnerabilities in the system to carry out various types of attack such as data breach,denial of service as so on. He gave relatable examples using our damaged windows and doors at home,these are the major weakness seen by attackers(thieves) to exploit our homes. He also made us understand the advantages of using strong passwords for our systems and doing the necessary 2-steps verifications. He explained further on the common attacks vectors; 1.phishing 2.malware 3.Denial of Services 4.Insiders threats and Unpatched softwares and so on. I also learnt about notable threats actors the likes of 8220 Gang,Aoqin Dragon,Revil Ransome ware group (Sodinokibi),The Carbanak group. He also expatiated on the NIST(National Institute for Standards and Technology) frame work;It’s a guide that helps organizations create a solid,step-by-step plan to protect their digital assets from cyber threats. He explained further on MITRE ATT&CK,Lockheed marting cyberkill chain. Finally,the Security controls types which are the Preventive controls,Admimistrative controls,Techinical controls and physical controls. Over the past four weeks, I've had the privilege of being part of the Haut Institute community, embarking on a journey to become a skilled cyber analyst under the guidance of Jamaal Raheem an exceptional instructor. This experience has broadened my understanding of the field and instilled in me a profound appreciation for the intricacies of cybersecurity. Although I still have a long way to go, I'm thoroughly enjoying every aspect of it. The Haut Institute has provided an exceptional learning environment, offering a unique blend of theoretical knowledge and practical sessions. Learning is a process, and the institute has effectively guided me through its various stages. In our recently concluded class, we explored cyber attacks. A cyber attack is a deliberate and malicious attempt by threat actors to damage systems, information, networks, and more. Over the years, numerous cyber attacks have been carried out by malicious individuals with diverse motivations, including fun, political gain, and financial gain (ransom). There are several types of cyber attacks, including: - Malware - Phishing - Man-in-the-middle - Denial of Service (DoS) - SQL injection - Socio-engineering - Credential stuffing We also discussed various types of malware, such as viruses, Trojans, ransomware, and key loggers. Additionally, we examined notable malware attacks and methods to protect against and mitigate ransomware, including: - Endpoint protection - Regular backups - Network segmentation - Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Least Privilege Access - Patch management and software updates As I reflect on my time at the Haut Institute, I'm struck by the immense personal growth I've experienced over the past four weeks. The institute's comprehensive curriculum, coupled with Mr. Jamaal's teachings and the supportive community, has empowered me to develop a deeper understanding of cybersecurity principles. I eagerly anticipate the practical phase of our training.

Chronicles of my third week Haut Let me remind you again that cybersecurity isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a necessity. If you want to survive in today’s digital world, you must take it seriously. Facilitated by Jamaal Raheem, our latest class was an eye-opener to the dark underbelly of cyber attacks. We nose-dived into cyberattacks, malware, risk formulas, vulnerabilities again, and defense strategies. In the 1 hour 11 minutes class, we touched: ? Understanding cyberattacks and their various forms ? A breakdown of malware types – viruses, worms, Trojans, ransomware, spyware, botnets, and more. ? How malware spreads and the devastating impact it has on networks and systems (Interactive session by the class) ? Software legitimacy checks – how to verify that software isn’t malicious ? Ransomware protection & mitigation strategies – because no one wants to be held hostage by their own data. ? Deep dive into threats, vulnerabilities, and risks – the foundation of cybersecurity defense. Jamaal Raheem will never end a class without taking his pound of flesh. He only said goodbye after giving three soul-stopping assignments that will challenge our cybersecurity thinking throughout the week. You can find the link to my submissions In the comments section. I have just begun the journey of becoming the cyberempress! Stepping into the world of cybersecurity Haut is like opening a door to a maze. My first time in class wasn't just an introduction but a wake-up call to the critical role and importance of being vigilant in the global village. In this first session, I learned that cybersecurity is beyond the codes of a technical field (this made me the happiest) but a mindset. The facilitator Jamaal Raheem explored the fundamentals of Cybersecurity through the question of Why, CIA Triad, AAA Standards, and cybersecurity domains. For each module came a real life example such as when he explained the CIA Triad using the concepts of sending a bag of rice to a friend. Imagine the friend delivering the rice took out a few cups and resealed the rice before delivery, even if the other person doesn't know, the integrity in the CIA Triad has been compromised. Each of the concepts discussed was made easy to understand and brought the spotlight on how systems, data, and networks require protection against ever-evolving threats. The class made a big splash on the human element in cybersecurity and social engineering. Above all, I am the happiest knowing I don't have to write a line of code, I only need to understand them in any domain or fields of cybersecurity I decide to play with. In retrospect, I have found a greater level of appreciation for cybersecurity professionals who help to maintain the trust in digital systems. I am glad to be a part of the family that isn't just solving problems but staying proactive and resilient in a rapidly changing world of technology. I am utterly thrilled at the prospect of embarking on this fascinating journey, where I'll have the opportunity to explore the intricacies of the digital world and develop the skills necessary to protect individuals, organizations, and societies from the ever-evolving threats of cybercrime. My first class was an amazing one because my tutor Jamaal Raheem dissected the basics of cybersecurity practices,staying informed about cyber threats and maintaining CIA Traid in safeguarding our information assets. He also explained further on the three essential components (A A A) that work together to provide secure access to computer networks,systems and resources. Lastly, He gave us an overview of different domains in cybersecurity;ranging from cloud security, security operations,Application security,Network security,threat intelligence (CTI) and so on .
