Dating apps today still resemble a modern-day "Hot or Not" or Zuckerberg’s infamous "Face Smash." Swipe left, swipe right—it’s all about looks. We can do better. That’s why I’m excited about what Mitch Alterman, Sam Lukens, and Reeves Kissel are doing with Hatched? Dating. It’s an AI-powered app that matches people based on personality, not just photos. Finally, an approach that digs deeper than the surface. The dating app industry is massive, with over 300 million users worldwide and apps like Tinder and Bumble contributing to over 20% of all marriages. But too many people are caught in an endless swipe cycle, burning out without ever making a real connection. Hatched offers a refreshing, much-needed change. 8-minutes of watching is a lot to ask of all of you……. I will sum it up, too many/poorly currated matches and the next wave of dating apps are trying to solve this. Many articles/videos founders will use by finding one line written by a third-party journalist to help validate their hypothesis. The best part about this, it is 8-minutes of major players/leaders and consultants in the industry talking about exactly what Hatched? Dating has been pitching and providing to users for almost 2 years now. The wild part, industry leaders need to try to fix it, but they still need to stay within their core strategy, so they can: 1. Re-brand with nominal feature changes (user doesn’t respond that much) 2. Severe over correction, asking users to change behavior with a 180 degree turn (user gets uncomfortable) What if there was an app where people just got to know each other a little better before chatting about a relationship, while not breaking the current model users do still seem to like? (wild thought)
