Harvey Norman shines a light on the remarkable community of Batemans Bay in the latest episode of the 'Our Town' series with Sky News and Paul Murray Live. Devastated by the 2019 bushfires, this incredible town has shown what resilience and community spirit truly mean. We were honoured to celebrate three ‘local heroes’ during our visit, individuals from businesses who have made an extraordinary impact on their community. JJJ Oriental Supermarkets, Kings Bros Transport and Escape Place Café were presented with a $2,000 Harvey Norman gift voucher as a thank you for their efforts to uplift and inspire those around them. Another highlight of this episode was hearing from a local family whose lives were changed by the generosity of Goods360, an organisation Harvey Norman proudly supports. By providing essential goods to those in need, Goods360 continues to make a meaningful difference for families recovering from hardship. The week that was: NRL Harvey Norman All Stars 2025 Harvey Norman have been proud partners of the NRL All Stars since 2010, supporting one of the most significant celebrations of culture and pride in the NRL season. The Harvey Norman All Stars is a week-long event where players come together to showcase their Indigenous and Māori culture. From community engagement initiatives to the All-Stars match, the week was about connecting with their heritage. Dane Gagai spoke about the importance and what it means to him to be a part of the All-Stars Game: “To us, and to the Indigenous team, culture is everything and that is what makes us who we are. "We get to go out on that stage and get to represent our cultures, but it is more than just the game on Saturday night, it is about everything we do in and around camp, around each other and everything is culture-based and getting connected to who we are.” Before each game kicked off, fans witnessed cultural performances from all 4 teams with the Māori Women performing an emotional haka, and the Indigenous women performing a powerful Unity Dance. The Women’s game then saw the Indigenous team win 20-18. The Men’s teams performed their cultural dances with the Māori Haka and the Indigenous War Cry, before the Māori All Stars claimed a 10-6 victory. Among many events throughout the week Harvey Norman hosted all four teams at the Harvey Norman Penrith store where fans had the opportunity to meet their heroes, get signatures and connect with their favourite players. The week also included the inaugural Executive Cultural Workshop with Dean Widders. Harvey Norman: Inspiring the Next Generation Harvey Norman is proud to be continuing a partnership with Olympian Sally Fitzgibbons in 2025. Sally has been a key influential figure in shaping Surfing in Australia through a combination of her success as a professional athlete and her leadership roles within the AOC and International Surfing Association. 2025 will be Sally’s 16th year as a professional Surfer on the Championship Tour. Over the 15 years on tour Sally has been nothing less than phenomenal with 12 WSL event wins, holding the WSL number 1 ranking and being a 2021 Tokyo Olympian. With 3x World Championship Runners-ups veteran Sally is still ready to fight for her World Champion Title with a “whole new generation at the heels”. Giving back to the next generation, Sally has stepped into the political world of surfing. In 2024 she served on the Australian Olympic Committee Athletes Commission and in 2025 she begins her term as Vice President of the International Surfing Association. This role will see her influence the direction of Surfing Australia in the lead up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The 2025 WSL Championship Tour begins on January 27 at the Lexus Pipe Pro in Hawaii and will continue throughout the year with a potential of 12 stops across 9 countries including three stops in Australia at Bells Beach, Snapper Rocks, and Margaret River for the fight for World Champion. This month is all about the 8th Annual Weekly Times Shine Awards supported by Harvey Norman and the amazing winner nominated for her courage Danny Mayson-Kinder. Founders Katie Page and Penny Fowler started this award to recognise all the important and hard-working women who are making a difference in their regional or rural community. Since the start the Shine Awards has helped over 1000 women be seen for their inspiring efforts that shape Australian rural and regional towns. This year’s Shine winner Danny suffered a personal tragedy losing her 12-year-old daughter and used her grief to start the B Kinder Foundation. A foundation based on the words of her daughter Billie who loved to write and had inspirations to write her own book. The B kinder Foundation creates interactive wellbeing programs and book to help rural and regional kids with tough topics like bullying, loneliness and mental health. The B Kinder Foundation uses poems and written pieces by Billie passing on her legacy of kindness.
