The stigma around food banks is often that of lacking dignity, poor food quality and judgment but at HCC, our mission directly destigmatizes the food banking concept. HCC offers a dignified, choice-based shopping experience, operates a high quality control system with all inventory and we offer our services to anyone living in the state of Arizona, regardless of income or zip code restrictions. If you know of anyone who may benefit from our free services, please refer them to our website for locations and hours. https://lnkd.in/gXHtzXW

Church partners have been an integral part in keeping food and hygiene products on our shelves. New Home Baptist Church recently partnered with Harvest Compassion Center to donate large quantities of our monthly items of the month, including toilet paper, canned soup and disposable razors. Some of their sweet members even stopped into HCC West Phoenix to volunteer and tour the center. These ladies were amazing and such a joy to serve with. If your church is looking to engage with a trusted nonprofit in 2025, please email Lori at [email protected] or visit our website for more information.

Join us as an HCC donor on April 1st, 2025 by giving $28 to feed a family on Arizona Gives Day! We are inviting you to make your donation during the 11:00am Power Hour on 4/1/25 to help HCC win a grant from AZ Impact for Good and AZ Gives Day. Today we celebrate Juan’s 1 year of service as an HCC Driver! Everyday looks different for Juan-we could ask him to drive to Mesa for a clothing pickup or Avondale to meet a business donor or run all around the Phoenix metro area visiting our grocery rescue partners! He does all of this to ensure all 3 Harvest Compassion Center locations are fully stocked with the best products and selection for our clients. Juan, thank you for doing what it takes to move product into our centers, which ultimately end up in the homes of those in need in Arizona!

This past Saturday, HCC was invited to host a booth at the first annual Chicks Who Give A Hoot event presented by The Monastery and created by the amazing Sara Chambers Not only that, HCC Executive Director, Nicolee Thompson, participated in a nonprofit panel to address ways the community can get involved to make an impact and influence change. It was an incredible day ending with 3 attendees giving the shoes off of their feet to our mission! Seeing this act of selfless generosity was the perfect ending to a moving day! Thank you to all of the participants, vendors, nonprofit leaders and Sara for a great event!
This past Saturday, which was International Women's Day, I hosted the first annual Chicks Who Give a Hoot Live. This event challenged women to see their businesses as catalysts for change and invited them to make an impact in their communities by simply making intentional choices that align with their values. This event was a long-time coming and represents months and months of effort, collaboration, partnership, and big swings. First, I intentionally shifted my podcast Chicks Who Give a Hoot into a full non-profit with the mission of helping female entrepreneurs leverage the power of their business for good as the philanthropic arm of my agency Elly and Nora Creative . Then, got to work recruiting a board of directors, including Sarah Gilliland, Ashley Marshall, and Charith Denson, PMP Next, we all worked to make this first annual event a pillar of the organization and one of the primary ways we carry out our mission. At the event: I took the stage as the opening keynote: Aligned and Unstoppable, The Collective Power of Women on a Mission. I hosted a live podcast panel with non-profit leaders in the community including: Tamala McBath of Dress for Success Phoenix Ashley Finch of Fresh Start Women's Foundation and Nicolee Thompson of Harvest Compassion Center I welcomed Amber Mikesell and Sabrina Guler to the stage to present their own talks. I facilitated a fireside chat with Shareé Hurts of Arizona Public Service - APS Charith Denson, PMP closed us out with an incredible creative reflection exercise to help us integrate what we learned. My agency Elly and Nora Creative gave away a full branding package worth $15,000 as a grant to a local business. We partnered with the best sponsors like The Monastery, The Good Vibe Media and Jenna Karwoski as well as tons of incredible local businesses that supported the event such as: Greenwood Brewing, SparkPoint Studio, Naked Rebellion, Upward Projects Restaurant Group | Postino WineCafe | Joyride Taco House | Windsor | Federal Pizza, SeeSalt, Foundress, The Sparkle Bar, Savage Snacks, Inc., The Good Good Good Newspaper, and The Joy Store. We even supported Helpings Café at UMOM New Day Centers with our catering. This event represented months of work, and I’m happy to say that I did exactly what I set out to do. I'm grateful and proud. Let's do it again next year!

Had a great time at the February Valors Veterans Community AZ Coffee Connections hosted by Harvest Compassion Center at their 27th Ave location! A big thank you to RO GONZALEZ & Valors for the opportunity to present on Beneath the Service and our Women Veterans Leadership Program (WVLP)—a unique, cohort-based leadership development initiative designed to strengthen the #leadership potential of #women veterans, expand their networks, and foster a strong, supportive community of women #veteran leaders across the nation. During my presentation, I also discussed our Re-Orient sessions, which help #veterans navigate their post-service journey, along with sessions on leadership development and imposter syndrome, critical topics that empower veterans to step into leadership roles with confidence. It was also great to hear from Lori Schweighardt about what a day at HCC looks like, guiding individuals with dignity in choosing what they actually need, rather than just being given items. The welcome display and hospitality were incredibly thoughtful. Glad to see so many engaged members of our veteran community, including Kelly Mills from TriWest Healthcare Alliance, who we look forward to hearing from next month. Shoutout to @Anne Atkinson (OVMAE), Travis Burns (UAV), Raphael Ellis Garcia Jr, PHR, M.S. HROD & Kane Eustace (Blue Bell Behavioral Health), ken enfinger (Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce (SWVCC), MCSO Derek J., Vet Center Derick Anies, George Olander (SBA), Jeannette Harris (New Leaf), and many more for the great conversations and collaboration. Looking ahead, be sure to RSVP for the March VVCAZ Coffee Connections—we’ll be at Dave & Buster's Inc.’s at Desert Ridge! If you’d like to stay updated and receive invitations, email [email protected] to get on the list. For more information about Beneath the Service and to sign up for our #newsletter, visit: ?? At the close of the Truck Town event at Highlands Church this past weekend, Kevin with Pepsi Co generously donated leftover Gatorade to HCC. We have had these on our shelves this week and the kids that visit us have absolutely loved having these fun drinks to take home! Thank you, Kevin & Pepsi Co, for your generosity.

Highlands Church hosted their annual Truck Town event this past weekend and HCC was thrilled to be a part of this community fun!! Over 4,000 kids and adults walked through the campus of Highlands Church in North Scottsdale to see vehicles of all sizes and uses. The HCC van was open to the attendees to see how we move product from distributors, grocery rescue and business partners to our shelves. Did you know HCC even has a refrigerated truck which allows us to accept cold items?! Seeing all of the trucks that move through the valley each day was so neat and we are grateful for each and every one of them and their purpose. Thank you, Highlands Church, for inviting us to participate and hosting this amazing event for the community!
